Rihanna is "closing up" sixth studio album

Rihanna has almost finished working on her sixth studio album, producer Verse Simmonds has claimed.

Simmonds produced Rihanna's latest single 'Man Down' alongside Jugganauts partner Sham 'Sak Pase' Joseph, and has revealed that the pair have also been helping out with the new record.

"From what I understand, she is closing the album up now," Simmonds told MTV News. "We did two records for her that she really, really loved and I'm really excited about them as well."

"They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts," Simmonds added, before teasing that the two may also produce a third Rihanna track.

He also said that he is "99.999%" sure that the Jugganauts' contributions will make it onto the final record.

Rihanna: "There’s a pack. It’s me, Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce"

In a recent Complex magazine interview, Beyonce stated that there was “room on this earth for many queens.” Rihanna has revealed who exactly runs the world,

“There’s a pack. It’s me, Gaga, Katy Perry, BeyoncĂ©…who else? Ke$ha, for sure. Women are definitely dominating music right now, and that’s because we are competitive beings. I feel like music hasn’t been this exciting in a while.”

Did Rihanna leave anyone out of the ‘Pop Pack’?

Lady Gaga Releasing Photo Book

Michael Jordan tried baseball (failure). Jack Nicholson tried becoming the world’s biggest Lakers fan (success). Tiger Woods tried being Casanova (failure), and now Lady Gaga, the world’s most talked about pop star, has set her sights on releasing a book (jury’s still out). Back in 2010, the singer gave photographer Terry Richardson complete and unrestricted access. He followed her on tour, in the dressing room, in the studio and at home. One hundred thousand photographs later, he’s ready to compile the best of the best into a three hundred and fifty page coffee table book. Lady Gaga will write the foreword, and according to CBS, the generically-titled Lady Gaga will be available for purchase in November.

You may remember Madonna released her own coffee table book back in the early 1990s, but I would be surprised if this collection caused anywhere near the stir the Material Girl’s did. What do you think? Would you consider keeping Gaga on your coffee table? Vote in the poll below and let us know what you think…

Stacie Orrico confirms comeback and new album

It’s been a hell of a while, but pop singer-songwriter Stacie Orrico has finally announced her return to the music industry. In an e-mail to her only biggest fansite, Stacie confirmed that she’s working on a new album, and that signing another record deal is “foreseeable in the very near future”.

Stacie described the album as a continuation of where she left off with her self-titled sophomore album and 2006′s soulful Beautiful Awakening. She’s been working on material in Nashville, and debuted some of her new tunes through a small showcase there last month.

Could Stacie spending time in Nashville mean that we’ll be hearing country music influences on her next album?

Shooting is 3 days long - July 20, 21, 22.

BET planning tribute to Aaliyah next month

BET announced in a tweet Wednesday night that a tribute to fallen Detroit star Aailyah is in the works and will air on the cable channel next month.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah's death; the rising R&B singer-movie star was killed in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 in the Bahamas after a music video shoot.

At the time of her death, Aaliyah had just released her third album and had completed production on "Queen of the Damned" based on the Anne Rice novel. She had been in talks to star in an updated version of the 1976 girl-group flick "Sparkle" -- which is now nearing production here in Metro Detroit with a new cast.

And, as 411Mania.com points out, that's not the only thing Aaliyah had planned during those days.

411Mania: Perhaps the strangest collaboration that we almost got was one between the late AALIYAH and NINE INCH NAILS, well TRENT REZNOR at least. Aaliyah was a huge Nine Inch Nails fan and had asked Reznor to collaborate on a song with her on what would become her last album, Aaliyah. There was some discussion, but scheduling conflicts prevent Reznor from the collaboration. In August 2001, the collaboration was prevented from ever happening as Aaliyah died in a plane crash. Like others taken too soon, Aaliyah's career seemed limitless at that point as she was supremely talented and naturally beautiful.

BET did not give an airdate or any other details for their Aaliyah tribute.

Jay-Z, Kanye West Try Dubstep On Watch The Throne

Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative Watch the Throne LP is shaping up to be the year's most anticipated release.

So far, fans have heard the Southern-fried, Lex Luger-produced "H.A.M." and the soul-drenched "Otis," which premiered Wednesday night on New York radio. While the two records both feature hard-nosed lyrics from Hov and 'Ye, their sounds couldn't be more different.

Well, the sonic versatility doesn't stop there. Singer/songwriter Verse Simmonds revealed to MTV News that the multiplatinum rap tandem will also be experimenting with dubstep on the new album.

The Black Keys Already Have a New LP In the Bag

According to a recent article in Spin, the Black Keys already have their upcoming LP finished. I say “already,” but it was actually May of 2010 when they released their colossal record Brothers that propelled them into the mainstream. I don’t know why that album feels like it was released only a short time ago, but it wasn’t. Anyway!

Amidst touring the world, winning three Grammys, working the festival circuit, and much more, they’ve recorded a new LP. Dan Auerbach says of the new songs, “It’s the fastest we’ve ever played… The new album doesn’t sound like Brothers. It doesn’t have that open soul feel to it. It’s way more driving and the tempos are really fast.” He also explained that the fresh material was inspired by the Clash, the Cramps and old garage rock and rockabilly. I haven’t been intrigued by the Black Keys in some times, but I must say, this kind of material they speak of should fair well in their hands.

Apparently, the drums are so fast that drummer Patrick Carney is worried about playing some of these songs live. The LP doesn’t have a title yet, but they say it’ll be released later this year. Danger Mouse was again brought on as the producer.

The 'California King Bed' singer told We Love Pop magazine that while she admires Lady GaGa's brave fashion choices, she prefers a more natural style for herself.

Rihanna said: "I don't think I could walk down the street wearing bubbles or a dress made of ham, [but] what Lady GaGa has done has been kind of amazing.

That's right - nothing! Head to Finnegan's on the River (401 SW 3rd Ave., Miami) Saturday night (July 16) in Miami from 8 p.m. to midnight to get your flip-flop on with the kick-off of Malibu’s Radio Maliboom Boom Station Invasion. So you're heading down to Miami to kick off your tour. What do you think of the city?

Oh god, I love Miami, and it's so funny because I always used to dread having to travel to Miami, because it seems to be so much farther than everywhere else. And now it's the place that I, like, can't wait to go to. And so I'm ready to go and vibe with my fans - I haven't performed there in so long, so that's gonna be really fun. Beyonce loses voice on TV special

R&B superstar Beyonce was forced to cut short a special TV concert taping on Thursday after she began losing her voice.

The singer began filming A Night With Beyonce at a London studio on Wednesday, belting out hits such as Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Crazy In Love, Irreplaceable and Halo, as well as songs from her latest album 4.

She shot the second half of the hour-long show for U.K. network ITV on Thursday, performing new tracks including 1+1, Party and Run The World (Girls).

But she had to call time on the set after struggling to maintain her powerful voice towards the end of the gig, blaming her lack of rest, and apologised to fans in the audience for making Countdown her last song of the night.

Sources tell WENN she then enlisted the help of her devotees to sing the chorus, before exiting the stage to rousing applause and cheers.

Earlier in the day, Beyonce treated her waiting fans to free pizza to show her appreciation for their support. Attendees began lining up outside the studio doors hours before showtime to ensure they got prime seats for the intimate show.

A Night With Beyonce is due to air in the U.K. later this year.

Pauly D to Join Britney Spears on Tour

After much teasing, Jersey Shore's resident beat-beating, spiky-haired, house music-pumping DJ has finally secured a spot on Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour. Pauly D opened for Britney one night at the Palms in Las Vegas to celebrate his DJ-in-residency gig with the resort and casino, but signing on for the whole tour fell through when Britney chose Nicki Minaj as her opening act.

Now, Pauly has officially signed on to open for the pop princess for at least four of her North American tour dates. You can catch Pauly spinning August 17 in Grand Rapids, MI; August 19 in Pittsburgh, PA; August 20 in Columbus, OH; and August 22 in Indianapolis, IN.

No opener has been confirmed for Britney's last two tour stops in North Carolina, but rumors are swirling that Pauly may snag those dates as well after shooting of Season 5 wraps. We’re crossing our fingers that Pauly sweeps Britney off her feet and wifes her up — she could use a stand-up guy like him!

Adele's '21' Hits 1 Million Downloads, 'Rolling' is 2011's Best-Selling Song

Just a week after Eminem's "Recovery" became the first album to sell 1 million digital downloads in the U.S., now Adele's "21" has hit the milestone, according to Nielsen SoundScan. And, "21" goes further -- as it surpasses "Recovery's" digital tally.

"21," which was released on Feb. 22, becomes the U.S.' second million-selling digital album, the fastest set to do so, and the first by a woman to achieve the feat. With another 25,000 downloads sold of "21," its digital sales now stand at 1,017,000 while "Recovery's" download tally is 1,005,000.

"21" continues to reign as the year's best selling album overall, too, with 2.6 million copies sold in the U.S. It has spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has yet to see a week where it has ranked lower than No. 3.

Its first single, "Rolling in the Deep," crowned the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven weeks earlier this year. Adding to its accolades, this week it became the year's best selling digital song, with 4.23 million sold. Katy Perry's "E.T." (featuring Kanye West) was previously the year's highest-selling song, and now falls to the No. 2 position, with 4.19 million sold.

Adele recently announced a series of rescheduled tour dates after she had to postpone them due to illness. The slate of shows begin on Aug. 9 in Vancouver, and includes newly added gigs in San Diego, Las Vegas and Miami, among other locales.

Milli Vanilli singer plots comeback – using his real voice

One half of Milli Vanilli is plotting a comeback, and this time he plans to use his real voice. Fab Morvan – better known as Vanilli – is working with TiĂ«sto and Eminem's tour DJ, the Alchemist, on his first solo album since 2003.

It was the Alchemist who confirmed Morvan's return in an interview with celebrity news website TMZ. "I'm working on a joint with Vanilli," said the DJ, who has produced tracks for Lil Wayne, Curren$y and Raekwon. "[He's] making a comeback." The Alchemist insisted this time there would be no lip-syncing: "Real shit," he said, "dude."

Speaking to the New York Daily News, a representative for the singer also revealed that Morvan had finished a song with trance legend Tiësto. "Whatever you read in the press is one thing, but you can be sure I'm coming with new music," Morvan wrote on Twitter. "By the way I never left."

While Milli Vanilli had worldwide hits in the late-80s, songs such as Girl You Know It's True and Girl I'm Gonna Miss You became infamous after Morvan and Rob Pilatus, aka Milli, were revealed as lip-syncing fronts. Their label dropped them, fans sued them, and the Grammys revoked their best new artist prize. Platus and Morvan tried to soldier on, releasing two more records, but it ended in tragedy: Pilatus was found dead at the age of 32 from a suspected alcohol and prescription pill overdose in a Frankfurt hotel room in 1998.

Morvan's last solo album, 2003's Love Revolution, was self-released. It featured the song It's Your Life, which Morvan described as a tribute to his former bandmate.

It's likely that Ciara will be the first star to join him, as she is currently looking for a new label after leaving Jive Records earlier this year after the poor performance of her latest album 'Basic Instinct'.

Usher is also a target for L.A. Reid, who discovered him at young age, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Mariah Carey could be coaxed from Island Def Jam to sign with the 55-year-old's Sony venture, as she released her album 'The Emancipation of Mimi' with Reid but her music career has suffered a number of setbacks in recent times.

Lopez is also a target, particularly after the success of her recent comeback album 'Love?' and her number one single 'On The Floor'.

Backstreet Boys star Howie Dorough has become the final member of the boyband to launch a solo career - he’s set to release his debut album in November.

The singer, who is currently on a joint Backstreet Boys/New Kids On The Block tour, is putting the finishing touches to Back To Me and he hopes the tracks will show fans the “full range” of his vocal abilities.
