Bonnaroo 2011 lineup features Eminem, Arcade Fire, more

If you enjoyed the musicians you saw on Sunday’s Grammy Awards show, you’ll see plenty of comfortingly familiar names on the lineup for this year’s Bonnaroo music and arts festival — and if you didn’t, well, you’ll still have lots of other acts to choose from. Eminem, the rejuvenated rapper who suddenly seems to be everywhere these days, will be among the headliners at this year’s festival, which runs from June 9 through 12 in Manchester, Tenn., its organizers said on Tuesday. And whether or not the Internet knows who they are, the Canadian indie rockers of Arcade Fire, who surprised some with their album of the year win for “The Suburbs,” are also at the top of the bill. Other top acts include the reconstituted Buffalo Springfield (featuring Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Rick Rosas and Joe Vitale); the roots rock bands Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket and String Cheese Incident; the Grammy-anointed blues rockers the Black Keys; Mumford & Sons, which shared the Grammys stage with Bob Dylan; indie rock acts the Strokes and the Decemberists; and the never-not-interesting rapper Lil Wayne. The bill will also feature Dr. John and the Original Meters performing “Desitively Bonnaroo,” the 1974 album from which the festival takes its name; and the Global Gypsy Punk Revue, a special stage curated by Eugene Hütz, whose band Gogol Bordello is also performing at the festival.

Is Radiohead’s ‘The King Of Limbs’ an 8-track album?

Radiohead’s ‘The King Of Limbs‘ was their Valentine Project (as the source code of Radiohead.com says) and hit all the headlines on the internet, made it to trending topic on Twitter, Facebook, crashed a website and all that. The tracklisting remains a secret till Saturday. However, it seems that we do know that the album holds just 8 tracks. The website for pre-ordering ‘The King Of Limbs operated by Hostess Entertainment, who take care of distribution in Japan and Asia, says you will get 8 tracks as a download and on the CD accompanied with the Newspaper edition. That would be less than all the previous Radiohead studio albums.

Update: The Japanese The King Of Limbs site removed the line about the 8 tracks shortly after this post.

Radiohead The King Of LimbsTracks we’ve seen rehearsed, played, rumoured and are possibly a candidate for the new album are the following;

The Daily Mail
Mouse Dog Bird
Lotus Flower
Give Up The Ghost
Skirting On The Surface
Open The Floodgates
Let Me Take Control/Chris Hodge
Burn The Witch
No Shame
Pay Day
Super Collider

Most of the above tracks are songs Thom Yorke played at solo shows and with his other band Atoms For Peace. Some of the others were rumoured tracks from the In Rainbows sessions and Radiohead live shows. Or can we expect an even older track finally recorded, like what happened to Nude on In Rainbows and Motion Picture Soundtrack on Kid A. Either way, let the guessing begin.

Game and Kanye West are Unhappy About the Best New Artist Award

The buzz blowing around since Esperanza Spalding won the Best New Artist Grammy Award last night is starting to be driven by different winds now that people have read her Wikipedia page and figured out who she is, and music celebrities, being the colorful cast that they are, have naturally scurried to Twitter to express their displeasure over her victory against nominees and expected winners Justin Bieber and Drake.

Two of the more notables are Kanye West and Game, rap music's big names known for starting media, and in Game's case, physical feuds, and since having seen their buddies snubbed of last night's award, they've expressed their reactions via tweets over Esperanza's crowning.

"Drake aint win BEST NEW ARTIST ? Exactly why I'm kool on awards. (finishes rolling weed up as I turn the tv off).," Game tweeted last night. "You wouldn't care about AWARDS if you seen the people giving em'. "WHO DA F*CK ARE Y'ALL" ( @drakkardnoir voice ) cheated the homie."

Kanye, having collaborated with Baby Bieber last year, addressed the issue in a calmer tone, tweeting: "D*mn... I can't find the words to explain how I feel about the best new artist award... Don't wanna say the wrong thing."

It's a difficult thing to argue with, most people truly having not known who Esperanza Spalding is, while Drake and Bieber have been two of the more prominent media figures in the last year, but people will be people, opinions will be opinions, and it is what is it. As Bieber tweeted: "Someone said to me tonight its not your successes that define u but your failures. I lost..but I don't plan on this being my last chance....," and, Justin, I have to say, the whole failures cliche is true, but I also have to address the fact that that was your last chance, literally. You are ineligible for the Best New Artist Grammy Award from here on out. That's just how it is. Pwned.
