Missy Elliott and Timbaland Working on New Material?

They've joined forces to get their freak on together once again! Words flying around the Twitterverse have lead us to believe Missy Elliott and Timbaland are up to no good in the studio once again. And we mean that in a good way! Keri Hilson was praising the rapper and producer duo for their ingenious work, and judging from what we've heard in the past, we can only begin to fathom what a treat our ears are in for.

Speaking of collaborations, it seems as though Ludacris and Jason Aldean are teaming up once again after the success of their hit, 'Dirt Road Anthem.' Another pop star who joined up with a country act, Natasha Bedingfield, was celebrating a gold record for her collaboration with Rascal Flatts! Go girl! Wale was celebrating a grand accomplishment of his own as his song 'Lotus Flower Bomb,' shot to No.1 on the charts. And lastly, Jennifer Hudson revealed that she too has been afflicted with Bieber Fever.

Adele to go country on her next album

Adele may be single-handedly propping up the British music industry, but the north London singer is looking across the pond for her third album. The follow-up to smash-hit 21 will be inspired by American roots music, she said this week. "I want to spend some time in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee, and learn about it."

Adele, 23, has already expressed plans to write, record, produce and master her next album on her own. "I want it to be quite acoustic and piano-led," she said in July. "It won't be a big production." Now the singer has revealed she is drifting away from her original R&B and girl-group influences, and exploring the country music she discovered during a US tour.

"I feel like a four-year-old in a candy shop who's discovering sweets again," Adele recently told the Sun. "The melodies and to-the-point lyrics I have found in a lot of American styles of music is definitely something I'm going be pursuing heavily from now on ... Every day is amazing when it comes to discovering new artists."

Adele is a huge success in America, topping the charts for 11 weeks. She was introduced to country music during the US tour for 19, thanks to a bus driver with good taste. "He would be rocking out to all this amazing country and blues and gospel and bluegrass, and I was constantly like, 'Who's this? Where's this from?'" she said earlier this year. "He used to radio all the other bus drivers, 'Can you pick your favourite country and blues songs and send them to me?' ... All sorts – Wanda Jackson, Garth Brooks, early Johnny Cash, early Dolly Parton, the Carter Family."

Released in January, 21 has sold almost 10m copies worldwide.

Britney Spears, Lady Gaga Rule Billboard.com's 2011 Mid-Year Music Awards

Britney Spears and Lady Gaga proved the ultimate pop music divas in Billboard.com's Mid-Year Music Awards poll, which allowed fans to weigh in on their favorite songs, albums and performances of the first half of 2011 over the past week. Once the hundreds of thousands of votes were tallied after voting ended on Wednesday (July 6), the pop icons were declared the top candidate in a combined seven categories, with Spears edging Gaga in the First-Half MVP tally.

Spears' seventh studio album, "Femme Fatale," was named the Favorite Billboard 200 No. 1 album after topping the chart upon its March release, while her single "Hold It Against Me" won the Favorite Hot 100 No. 1 Song trophy. The singer's cheeky clip for "I Wanna Go" was also voted Best Music Video, and her recently started Femme Fatale tour was voted Best Tour.

Meanwhile, Gaga's eye-popping outfits earned her the most Best Style votes, and her set at Radio 1's Big Weekend was named the Best Festival Performance. Gaga was also the runner-up in categories like First-Half MVP, Favorite Billboard 200 No. 1 album for "Born This Way," Best Music Video for her elaborate "Judas" clip, and Best Tour for her Monster Ball trek.

Other leading vote-getters included Wiz Khalifa, whose ubiquitous single "Black and Yellow" and debut album "Rolling Papers" garnered enough fans to earn the rapper the Best Newcomer award; Jennifer Lopez, who used her seat at the "American Idol" judges table and new album "Love?" to lead the Best Comeback category; Beyonce, whose show-stopping performance at the 2011 Billboard Music Award was voted Best Awards Show Performance; and Chris Brown, whose "Good Morning America" tirade was named the year's Most Memorable Meltdown so far.

Check out the full results below, including the percentage of the votes that each candidate received, and let us know if you approve of the final tallies in the comments section.

Lady Gaga, Adele, and Nicki Minaj help boost album sales

Beyoncé may have been on to something with that whole "Run the World (Girls)," business after all. Though Queen B's single didn't set the world on fire, in the first half of 2011, a number of her fellow divas — Adele, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry — have helped the music business achieve something it hasn't been able to in nearly eight years: positive growth.

Gloriana Offers Free Download of “Soldier Song” This Week

Gloriana is celebrating Independence Day and all the men and women who serve or have served in our military by offering their tune “Soldier Song” from their upcoming album as a free download. From now until July 7, fans can download the track exclusive at http://facebook.com/gloriana. Written by Tom and Mike Gossin and Matt Serletic, “Soldier Song” was inspired by the band’s trip overseas to perform for the troops stationed in the Middle East and Europe in November.

“After our trip overseas we were so inspired by the military men and women we met,” Mike Gossin said. “We wrote “Soldier Song” to show our gratitude and give something back to all the service men and women out there. The timing couldn’t be better than 4th of July weekend to celebrate this song by releasing it to our fans.”

The band has also asked fans to submit photos of friends and family members in the service for a special video that was created for “Soldier Song.” The video will also be available exclusively on Gloriana’s Facebook page from June 30 to July 7.

Gloriana recently shot the video for their current single, for “Wanna Take You Home” in Nashville, which will premiere in mid-July. They are currently on the road performing at festivals and fairs across the country in support of their upcoming second studio album.
