Limp Bizkit Inks A Deal With Cash Money Records

Lil Wayne ventured into the rock arena with this 2010 album Rebirth and though he's since turned his energies back to hip-hop, that doesn't mean that he can't sign rock artists. The YMCMB camp recently signed singer Christian Milian to the label and their latest acquisition is 1990s rap-rock group Limp Bizkit, led by frontman Fred Durst.

Adam Lambert is Queen's New Frontman

Adam Lambert has confirmed he is set to join Queen as the band's new frontman for a tour this summer.

The star was joined by original group members Brian May and Roger Taylor during his finale performance on 2009's American Idol, and the trio teamed up once more at the MTV European Music Awards in November.

The collaborations led to speculation that Lambert would be stepping in to take the place of late singer Freddie Mercury in an upcoming trek, and Taylor fuelled the reports, saying in December, "He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice... We would like to work with him again. There's nothing signed just yet but we're talking about live dates."

Lambert has now announced he will be touring with May and Taylor throughout 2012 - including dates at Knebworth in England, where Queen played their final gig with Mercury in 1986, before his death in 1991.

He tells Britain's Daily Star, "The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f--king great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of."

However, Lambert insists he doesn't intend to take Mercury's place: "After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that.

"There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk... Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen."

Katy Perry, Coldplay, and More to Perform at MusiCares Benefit Concert Honoring Paul McCartney

Not only will Katy Perry and Coldplay be performing on the Grammy Stage Feb. 12, the two popsters will be honoring Paul McCartney two days prior at this year’s MusiCares tribute concert. Alicia Keys is also listed as a performer.

Part of an annual tradition dating back to 1991, this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year concert will be held in Los Angeles, with tickets ranging from $1,500 to $100,000. It sounds awfully pricey, even with that lineup, but it’s for a good cause: MusiCares offers a safety net for musicians who need assistance in times of financial, personal, or medical crisis.

In addition to Coldplay, Perry, and Keys, this year’s list of performers includes Foo Fighters, Alison Krauss, Norah Jones, and past Person of the Year honorees James Taylor and Tony Bennett — as well as McCartney himself, who’ll be promoting his latest album, the collection of pop standards ‘Kisses on the Bottom.’

New Depeche Mode album to be released "no later than early 2013"

With Depeche Mode returning to the studio in March, the first word of a timetable for the band’s 13th album has emerged: Martin L. Gore tells German magazine Sonic Seducer that the record will be released “no later than early 2013,” according to fansite Home.

Gore also tells Italian Vogue that he can’t really tour his new VCMG album — recorded with ex-DM member Vince Clarke — because he’s already starting work on songs for the follow-up to 2009′s Sounds of the Universe: “It’s still all a little hazy, but I’ve written a bit of music: we’ll see each other soon and start working together.”

That follows Andy Fletcher’s revelation in late last year that Depeche Mode was slated to reconvene this month ahead of its recording session: “We got a meeting in January and it looks like we’re going to start recording a new album in March or something like that.”

Following the release of Sounds of the Universe, Depeche Mode toured the world for nearly a full year, wrapping up the “Tour of the Universe” in February 2010 in Germany. Since then, the band has released both a live album and DVD and a remix compilation, and contributed a cover of U2′s “So Cruel” to an Achtung Baby tribute album.

Foo Fighters confirm plans to write new album in 2012

Foo Fighters have confirmed they are planning to head into the studio to record a new album in 2012.

The band only released their latest studio effort 'Wasting Light' in April of this year and frontman Dave Grohl has revealed on the band's official blog he has already started compiling ideas for new songs.

He wrote: We're not finished yet. There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean if you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our eighth studio album...well.

Foo Fighters were recently nominated for six gongs including Album Of The Year for 'Wasting Light' at next year's 54th annual Grammy Awards on February 12, 2012.

Grohl added: "The fact that a rock and roll record, made in a garage, completely analogue to tape with no help from computers, could be a Number One album around the world, and get a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year... well... these days that's no small feat.

"It's truly inspiring, and it makes us feel like the luckiest band in the world. So thanks. It means everything to us."

Other nominees include Kanye West, Adele and Mumford and Sons.
