'American Idol's' Pia Toscano Signs With Interscope Records

American Idol’s Pia Toscano has officially signed a recording contract with Interscope Records, THR has confirmed. She will release her debut single, “This Time,” on July 12 and perform the song as part of her set during this summer’s American Idol Live! Tour.

The track comes courtesy of Esther Dean, who has written several hit singles for Rihanna, including “S&M,” “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name,” and is currently featured on Nicki Minaj’s smash “Superbass.” Dean wrote and co-produced “This Time,” an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track.

Toscano will continue to work on her debut album, which is due out later this year. Producer Rodney Jerkins, who has recorded three songs with Toscano, told THR in May that fans can expect a “big, diva-sounding record.”

Toscano shot the cover art for the album at Los Angeles' Smudge Studio in late June. Her official publicity photo is shown above.

Christina Aguilera and Adam Lambert Duet Rumors Not True?

Rumors started circulating two days ago that Christina Aguilera and Adam Lambert recorded a new single together for one of their albums after Tampa Bay radio station 93.7 FLZ said as much in a tweet. Unfortunately for fans of both singers, the rumor appears to be false.

According to Australian pop star Sia, a friend of the two, the singers currently have no plans for a duet. She said in a tweet: “Adam just texted me. Def no collab with xtina planned, although he said he would love to.”

The news undoubtedly comes as a disappointment for fans looking forward to the collaboration, but maybe it’ll be of at least some consolation that Adam Lambert is at the least interested in doing it. At least there’s some hope for it happening eventually, right?

Adam Lambert Making His 'Dream Album'

Adam Lambert's debut album, 2009's For Your Entertainment, was very much a product of his time on "American Idol" — written and produced by a hand-picked team of hitmakers, it was the kind of the thing the folks at 19 Entertainment wanted to hear. So it's somewhat understandable that, on his follow-up disc, Lambert is very much determined to make the kind of album he wants to hear.

"I think I've probably written about 18 to 20 songs. I've been spending the past two and a half months in the studio," Lambert told MTV News on the red carpet of Wednesday's "Idol" finale in Los Angeles. "I'm writing most of the material with people myself this time ... I'm really involved. It's really exciting because I think I'm making my dream album. I know that sounds a bit clichéd, but I'm making exactly what I want to listen to."

That echoes the sentiments Lambert shared with us earlier this year, when he said he was taking his time to work on his new album, and that the goal was to "write the most personal songs, the most powerful songs. I really want it to be something that's really honest and real."

Helping him achieve that goal are a variety of seasoned pros — Ryan Tedder, Nikka Costa and Sia, to name just a few — and while there's still no release date for the album, Lambert said he's in no rush. He's enjoying the writing process, and getting an education in songwriting in the process.

"I'm learning so much from everybody, so that's probably the best part," he said.

Rihanna, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, More Set For Today Show Summer Concert Series Performances

The Today Show summer concert series is ready to get your summer rocking.

Starting later this month, the morning news and talk show will bring some of the hottest names to New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza for early morning performances.

Things kick off with little miss sunshine herself, Rihanna, on May 27. Bruno Mars and The Script are among the acts performing in June while Team Breezy will flood the Plaza when Chris Brown hits the stage in July.

Additional performers will be announced as the summer goes on.

A current list of performers according to NBC can be seen below:

Rihanna to Perform on 'American Idol' Again

Rihanna is scheduled to continue her string of televised guest appearances with a performance on 'American Idol' next week.

The red-coiffed 'S&M' singer recently performed her song 'California King Bed' with Jennifer Nettles, of country band Sugerland, at the American Country Music Awards, a rare feat for an R&B star. Now, she's returning to the stage with 'Idol' to rock out on an as-yet-unspecified song. Also performing on the show -- airing Thursday, April 14 -- will be former 'Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson and country star Jason Aldean, singing their hit 'Don't You Wanna Stay.'

Past performers this year have included Diddy-Dirty Money, the Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Hudson. Rihanna last appeared on the popular singing competition show a year ago, performing her single 'Rockstar 101.' She has followed up that performance with appearances on the U.K. hit talent search 'The X Factor,' as well as halftime at the NBA All-Star Game earlier this year.

Despite rumors of poor ticket sales, Rihanna is also preparing to kick off her Loud tour on June 4 in Baltimore with Cee Lo Green and J. Cole.

American Idol's Pia Toscano Scores a Record Deal

Well that was fast!

Less than 24 hours after her shocking early American Idol exit, season 10 finalist Pia Toscano has scored a record deal, UsMagazine.com has exclusively confirmed.

The 22-year-old New Yorker -- booted from the Fox series Thursday -- will record her debut album under the Interscope Records imprint, which is chaired by Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine.

"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," a source familiar with the contract talks tells Us. "Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it."

As for the contract, the insider says, "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything but she's so excited."

Though Idol fans are still coming to terms with her dismissal, Toscano -- who will hit the road this summer for the Idols LIVE! concert tour -- is taking her bad news in stride.

"You don't know for sure why things happen, but you know, it did!" she told reporters during a Friday conference call. "It was my time to go on the show and I'm excited to see what my future holds."

Adam Lambert to Release Unplugged Album 'Around Thanksgiving Time'

While still occupied with the tour of his debut album "For Your Entertainment", Adam Lambert apparently has returned to studio. He is currently preparing an acoustic album and has started doing a cross promotion during his Glam Nation traveling show.

"There is going to be an acoustic CD," Lambert said during an interview in Australia. "I don't have an exact release date. Probably around Thanksgiving time -- November, December. We went around Europe in the earlier part of this year, and here [in Australia], and we did a lot of promo."

The "American Idol" alum went on, "And so I had Monty, my guitar player, and my drummer at the time - and we just did very stripped-back versions of the songs... and then we also recorded some of the actual stuff from the Glam Nation tour. So it's going to be a mix of both."

From Australia, Adam Lambert went to Hawaii and then starting November 6, he will travel around Europe for a number of concerts at least until late November 29. Afterwards, he is going back to North America for two gigs in Los Angeles.

Kelly Clarkson Dishes On New LP In Impromptu Twitter Q&A

Kelly Clarkson has been keeping a pretty low profile. But turns out it's for good reason: The "American Idol" alum has been steadily working on her next album. On Monday, Clarkson took to Twitter to answer a fan's question about the status of her album, and the tweeting unexpectedly became a Q&A as Kelly dished details regarding her follow-up to last year's All I Ever Wanted.

In a tweet that had fans rejoicing, Kelly revealed that she's nearly finished with the recording process, tweeting, "We've almost completed the album. We're gonna have way too many songs to pick from ....and that part sucks :("

While it might be too late for the project, which she has previously described as "Garbage-meets-pop-meets-Muse," to make it to shelves this year, the songstress said she's planning for an early 2011 release with a single coming even sooner. "Probably not till the beginning of the year but my single will come out before that. It takes too long. I'm bored & ready 2 tour:)," she admitted.

Asked by another fan if there would be songs similar to the ones from her not-so-commercial LP My December, she said, "There is definitely one song that could have been on My December and it's also a duet ....and I'm not saying who yet :)"

Clarkson also tweeted that the still-untitled album will feature two duets, but offered only hints at who the guests might be. "There are actually 2 duets on the new record & I have at some point sang w/both of these artists before but not on record," she teased.

Aside from the duets, the project will include her favorite song from the recording sessions, "You Love Me," and "You Still Won't Know What It's Like," produced by Jason Halbert, who worked on her angsty single "Never Again."

Clarkson, who has seen some of her material leaked onto the Internet, said she's hoping to keep the new songs under wraps this time around. "Well no [one] has stolen it quite yet but as far as my luck goes with hacking, maybe sooner than I want you too ha!" she joked about when fans might hear the tracks.

The album may also include contributions from her "My Life Would Suck Without You" songwriter Claude Kelly.

"Kelly Clarkson is kind of a force of her own," he told MTV News earlier this year. "Her voice and her mood determine what she does. So I just want to do what's on her heart 'cause that's how you get the best songs out of an artist like that, is for them to sing what they really mean."
