Demo: Ke$ha - "Starvin'"

First producer announced for Madonna's new album

Oseary tweeted that Her Madgesty began work on the untitled album on the Fourth of July. Now the first producer has been named and he’s someone to get excited about: Martin Solveig. Solveig is a French electronic music DJ and producer best known for work with Canadian electropop group Dragonette and the song “Hello,” which became a hit in the U.S. after being featured in commercials for Trident.

Solveig's good rep and ear for commercially viable dance music will be important, because this is an especially important album for Madonna. As silly as it may sound, it’s her first post-Gaga record and because of that, it will be viewed and critiqued through that lens. Earlier this year, Gaga was slapped on the wrist by music critics who felt her smash “Born This Way” sounded a little too close for comfort to Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself.” Gaga’s aesthetic is also often compared to Madonna’s.

So anyone who thinks Madonna won’t experience this same scrutiny in reverse as soon as she produces something new is naïve. Critics’ first question won’t be, “What does it sound like?” Instead they’ll ask, “Does it sound like Gaga?” And the answer needs to be no (or at least “not really”).

She seems to know it too. Madonna declined her record company’s request to record with RedOne.

Madonna was the primary songwriter on Music, Ray of Light and Confessions on a Dance Floor, and on all three she worked closely with little known European DJs/producers, Mirwais Ahmadzai, William Orbit and Stuart Price, respectively. It’s great that she seems to be reverting back to a formula that has worked well for her in the past. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Adele Wants Third Album To Be Acoustic

Adele has revealed that she wants her third album to have more of an acoustic feel.

Fresh from the success of her sophomore record, 21, the Rolling In The Deep star has told Q magazine that her next LP will be more "acoustic and piano-led".

The 23-year old, who is rumoured to be in talks with Jay-Z about a collaboration, revealed to the publication: "I’ve accumulated some things to write about again. I’d go into the studio tomorrow if I could."

"It won’t be a big production. I want it to be quite acoustic and piano-led. I want to write it, record it, producer it all and master it on my own."

The Someone Like You hitmaker added: “I think it’ll take a lot longer because I want to do it this way. When I move house in the summer, my sound engineer is going to come and help me install a studio and teach me how to use it.”

As for whether she feels pressure to achieve the same success as 21 with it's follow-up, Adele claimed: "I don’t really care about expectations. There was enough of it with this record. If you deliver the songs I think you get away with it. I’m not bothered. I’m not expecting my next record to be as big as this one. That’s impossible.”

Ke$ha interview: "I want to be f**king perfect"

It's been a busy couple of years for America's filthiest pop gal Ke$ha. Since unleashing her worldwide breakout hit 'Tik Tok' in '09, she has gone on to release a string of boozy party hits, expanded her debut album Animal into the meatier Cannibal, and is responsible for Britney Spears's biggest worldwide hit since 'Toxic'. With her '$leazy' tour arriving in the UK this month, we phoned her up to find out what fans can expect from her live shows, as well as that all-important second album.

Will there be any changes to your 'Get $leazy' tour when you bring it to the UK later this month?
"No, it's going to be just as sleazy. Actually, I feel like I could get a little more sleazier in the UK. You guys are kind of more cool with more s**t than America is. I do dismember a person and drink blood from an actual heart."

So are UK audiences the best in the world?
"Honestly, every time I've ever played in the UK people just go so f**king mental, it's amazing. I live for that. That's why I play shows - to give people a place to go and go f**king crazy. In the UK, and especially my London shows, people definitely take advantage of that. We've had police and firemen called mutliple times to my shows here and everyone just comes dressed as wild animals. I love it."

Are you planning to release any more singles from Cannibal?
"I would love to release 'The Harold Song', but I actually don't know what the next single is going to be. It's all being discussed at the moment. I wish I could tell you, but I don't actually know yet."

Have you thought about what a music video for 'The Harold Song' would be like?
"I have actually. I've written the video treatment, but I can't tell you! It's very dramatic. I'll keep you guys posted. I think I'm going to make a video for it either way, because I have a really beautiful video idea. Whether it's a single or not, you can definitely be looking out for a video."

'American Idol's' Pia Toscano Signs With Interscope Records

American Idol’s Pia Toscano has officially signed a recording contract with Interscope Records, THR has confirmed. She will release her debut single, “This Time,” on July 12 and perform the song as part of her set during this summer’s American Idol Live! Tour.

The track comes courtesy of Esther Dean, who has written several hit singles for Rihanna, including “S&M,” “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name,” and is currently featured on Nicki Minaj’s smash “Superbass.” Dean wrote and co-produced “This Time,” an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track.

Toscano will continue to work on her debut album, which is due out later this year. Producer Rodney Jerkins, who has recorded three songs with Toscano, told THR in May that fans can expect a “big, diva-sounding record.”

Toscano shot the cover art for the album at Los Angeles' Smudge Studio in late June. Her official publicity photo is shown above.
