It’s safe to say Lil Wayne is having the best week ever. After news broke yesterday (September 6) that his latest album, Tha Carter IV, racked up close to one million in sales in its first week, it was announced this afternoon that Wayne has also earned the most nominations at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.
Weezy picked up a grand total of 19 nods, in such categories as Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Best Live Performer and Song of the Year.
Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa both tied for second place with nine nominations a piece, while Rick Ross has the chance of winning eight trophies. Busta Rhymes is close behind with six noms. [See the full list of nominations below]
For the third year in a row, Mike Epps will be hosting the event, set to go down on October 1 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta.
The show will air on BET, nine days later, on October 11 at 8 p.m. EST.
