Lady Gaga confirms she will release a new album this year

Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will release a new album this year.

The singer released her second studio album 'Born This Way' last May, but in an interview with The Insider claimed that she wanted to "keep writing music" and planned to put out a new LP in 2012.

Gaga said:
I just want to keep going. I'm not as goal obsessed as I am process obsessed. I just want to keep writing music. I'm looking forward to putting out another album and going on tour.
The star also said that she was putting any plans for a family on the back-burner for the foreseeable future, and insisted that her career was her current priority ahead of any ambitions in her personal life. When asked if she would like to be a mother in the future, she answered: "Someday - long, long day from now. My next baby will be my new record."

Last month, Lady Gaga revealed that she had already chosen a name for her new album and had started to pen tunes for the LP. She had previously claimed that she was planning a duet with Elton John for the record.

Lady Gaga already planning third album

Lady Gaga is perhaps the busiest monster of them all. Just six months after dropping her chart-topping Born This Way, the Mother Monster is already hard at work on its follow-up.

"I've started writing it and I have the name for it and all the concepts are beginning to flourish and take place," she told MTV News at Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, where she also talked about her Grammy nods and "Marry the Night" video. "I'm excited to put it out, but it's not done yet. So I'll put it out when it's done."

BTW contributor Fernando Garibay recently stopped by the MTV News offices in Santa Monica, California, and shared the vision he has in mind for Gaga's next release.

"I get a little bit of anxiety thinking about that right now," the producer said of plans for the album. "I wanna just always try to outdo ourselves, our songs.

"They're already incredible songs. But I feel like she's so young," he said, adding that the record is in its early stages and that "there's a lot of room to grow."

While Gaga will hit the road on the Born This Way Tour next year, Garibay said that won't halt the recording process. "The last record we made in bus stops and hotel rooms," he said. "Wherever she's at, we'll make it."

However the recording schedule pans out, Garibay knows he and Gaga will continue experimenting with new sounds. "She's the perfect platform for me to express myself," he said. "You can do stuff with her that you can't do with anybody else. It's amazing."

Grammy Awards Ban Britney Spears, Gaga, Rihanna from Dance Categories

Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Jennifer Lopez scored some of 2011's biggest dance hits, but you won't see any of them in the Dance categories at the 2012 Grammys.

The Academy has decided to shift all of those artists to the Pop field, opening up the Dance field for DJs and more hardcore dance acts like Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Skrillex and Benny Benassi.

Though the Grammys never made an official announcement about this, several Academy members have confirmed being told about the change. The new policy is also confirmed by scanning the leaked list of 116 potential 2012 Grammy nominees for Best Dance Recording, which is missing all of those aforementioned pop stars.

Many of the songs you might have expected to see in the Dance categories - Gaga's "Judas," Spears' "Till the World Ends," Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" and Rihanna's "S&M" - were shifted to the Pop field instead.

Unfortunately, the Academy isn't being consistent with its new definition. A few less-successful dance-pop artists did manage to slip onto the list of contenders in the Dance field, including Robyn, Dev, Kat DeLuna and LMFAO.

None of these performers are as commercially successful as Gaga or Rihanna. So it seems that the new Grammy rule is that dance-pop artists are no longer eligible for the Dance categories, unless they have terrible record sales, in which case they are welcomed with open arms.

We'll find out how much of a difference the new policy makes when the 2012 Grammy nominees are announced on November 30.
