Every solo project by Eminem has been nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy, and the Detroit MC has taken home a trophy every time except for his album Encore. This year, Eminem earned a whopping 10 Grammy nominations and is likely to take home a few awards.
But according to Em's friend and recent Shady Records signee Royce da 5'9", the Recovery superstar doesn't think he's gonna win big on Sunday.
"It's funny, I just had the conversation with him about it," Royce told MTV News. "He doesn't think he's gonna win anything. He wouldn't bet me, though. But I think he honestly thinks he's not gonna win. Which I think is ridiculous."
The veteran rapper is not only up for Best Rap Album but Best Rap Song ("Not Afraid"), Record of the Year ("Love the Way You Lie") and the coveted Album of the Year for Recovery, among others.
Eminem is also scheduled perform at the Grammys on Sunday. Last year, he took the stage with Drake, Kanye West and Lil Wayne for the Thank Me Later star's "Forever" performance. But for this year's telecast, the multiple Grammy winner will take top billing.
Em's new Shady Records additions Slaughterhouse — Royce, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Joe Budden — will join their new label boss at the esteemed event. Em also recently inked upstart rapper Yelawolf to Shady Records.
Royce, who is working on his next solo LP, Success Is Certain, due in April, said he'll be cheering his longtime friend on.
"I think he's gonna win," Royce said. "We're rooting for him."
