Triple threat plus one.
#7 - Mike Posner - "Cooler Than Me"
Usually new artists choose good songs to promote themselves - Lady Gaga's "Just Dance", Nicki Minaj's "Massive Attack", the like. Unfortunately for Mike Posner, he obviously has bad judgment. His vocals are shoddy on this track (although he is a decent live singer), the lyrics are beyond stupid (Posner complains about a woman's sunglasses, while simultaneously wearing sunglasses), and the beat is boring. We agree with whoever called Mike Posner a wannabe Justin Timberlake.
#6 - Chris Brown featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall - "Deuces"
We're not putting Chris Brown on this list because he's a horrible human being, we're putting him on this list because he is a horrible singer-songwriter. The beat is an ear-snail, the lyrics are beyond ridiculous (Commitment? To a woman? That's a lot of work!), Tyga just feels out-of-place (and he can't pronounce "Valentines" right), and Chris Brown's vocals remain right where they always have been.
#5 - Ke$ha featuring 3OH!3 - "Blah Blah Blah"
Oh, Ke$ha. We thought about putting you on this list more but decided against it due to the fact that even your other songs are masterpieces compared to this. It sounds like your producers threw random stuff at their recorder and the amount of Auto-Tune on this song is disturbing, even for Ke$ha. The lyrics seemed like they were pulled from a hat and often make no sense ("...zip your lip like a padlock..."). As much as we here at Hogg and Pease consider "Don't Trust Me" a guilty pleasure, the guys from 3OH!3 sound absolutely horrid here. They are trying far too hard.
#4 - Train - "Hey Soul Sister"
Oh, where to start? Train isn't necessarily a bad band. Their songs from a couple years ago, while not interesting, where not of the horrible quality that "Soul Sister" is. The lyrics are much like Ke$ha's (Sorry to tell everyone, but Madonna is not a virgin), the quality of the lead singer's voice has declined much over the years, and there's not really anything interesting about the song at all, especially considering it came in at number three on the Billboard Top 100.
