Britney Spears Post: Grammys and Album Name Later This Week

New info on the Grammys and Album Cover/Title...

Justin Bieber to Release 'Remixes' Album on Valentine's Day

Justin Bieber has announced the release of "Never Say Never - The Remixes," a seven-track album featuring collaborations with Rascal Flatts, Chris Brown and Usher. The album will hit stores on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), three days after the pop star's 3D biopic, "Never Say Never," opens in theaters on Feb. 11.

Along with the previously released Jaden Smith collaboration "Never Say Never," the album will include four remixes: "That Should Be Me" featuring Rascal Flatts, "Somebody to Love" featuring Usher, "Up" featuring Chris Brown, and Kanye West's "Runaway Love" remix featuring Raekwon, which leaked online in August. "The Remixes" will also feature a live version of "Overboard" with fellow teen star Miley Cyrus, as well as "Born to Be Somebody," a new track penned by Diane Warren.

Bieber confirmed that he was recording with Rascal Flatts last month, writing on Twitter that he was "honored" to work with the country trio. Meanwhile, Brown teased that he and Bieber would release a "SMASH record for all the fans out there at the top of the NEW YEAR!!!" in a Twitter post on Christmas Day.

"Never Say Never - The Remixes" is Bieber's latest release that reworks previous hits on "My World" and "My World 2.0," after "My Worlds Acoustic" was issued on Nov. 26. Although there is no timetable for the release of Bieber's next batch of new material, producer/songwriter Sean Garrett told Billboard.com this month that the pop star's next project will "segue him into young adulthood... we want all the fans that started out with him to still be intrigued and excited about him, but we want to also stretch out a little bit and make the fans that are 22-23 years old love Justin as well."

Here is the track list for Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never - The Remixes":

"Never Say Never" (featuring Jaden Smith)
"That Should Be Me" (remix featuring Rascal Flatts)
"Somebody to Love" (remix featuring Usher)
"Up" (remix featuring Chris Brown)
"Overboard" (live featuring Miley Cyrus)
"Runaway Love" (Kanye West remix, featuring Raekwon)

U2 confirms Moncton concert date

Iconic rock band U2 has confirmed it will play an outdoor concert at Magnetic Hill in Moncton on July 30.

The Moncton concert is the last date on U2's North American tour and is the first time the band has played in Atlantic Canada.

"The Moncton show is set to be the final date of the U2 360 Tour in North America and we're really looking forward to bringing this now legendary 360 production into Atlantic Canada for the first time," said Paul McGuinness, U2's manager, in a statement.

The Moncton stop will have a special appearance with Montreal's Arcade Fire. As well, the band Carney will open for U2.

Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc said the city is honoured to have U2 play at the outdoor concert venue, which has already hosted major bands, such as the Rolling Stones and AC/DC.

"To host one of the biggest bands, on one of the biggest stages, as part of one of the biggest tours for their final North American date is an honour," LeBlanc said in a statement.

The concert stop in Moncton will also see some changes to the Magnetic Hill concert site.

Donald K Donald, the concert promoter, said there was no venue in Atlantic Canada big enough to hold the concert, so they are altering Magnetic Hill to fit the band's stage.

"There is no stadium big enough in Atlantic Canada so we will build one and they will come," he said in a statement.

"The impossible will become possible. Moncton will host the last North American U2 360 Tour date and it promises to be the biggest and greatest entertainment spectacle in Atlantic Canada history."

Ticket prices will go on sale on Feb. 8 and range from $29.50 to $275. The general admission tickets are $65.

It wasn't long after speculation started last week about U2's pending concert date started that hotel rooms in southeastern New Brunswick started filling up.

A standard room is now going for more than $200 and some hotels are charging $379.

Along with the Rolling Stones and AC/DC, the Eagles and Bon Jovi have also played outdoor concerts at Moncton's Magnetic Hill site.

Britney Spears Sets March 15 Release Date For New LP

As the wait for the dance-heavy video for "Hold It Against Me" continues, details regarding Britney Spears' new album have surfaced. Based on a sales-solicitation sheet, which was confirmed as accurate by a label rep to MTV News, the pop superstar's still-untitled LP is set to drop March 15.

With the rocket success of the album's lead single, it's no surprise that the singer's seventh studio album will feature "multiple songs" from pop masterminds Max Martin and Dr. Luke. Additional production credits include Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Fraser T. Smith, Bloodshy & Avant and more. Fans can choose between a standard (soft pack/wallet packaging) version of the album and the deluxe (expanded soft pack with additional booklet pages), which will feature three or four additional tracks.

Spears has been hitting the dance studio hard, as the notice describes the forthcoming "Hold It Against Me" video as "a sexy, edgy dance piece directed by Jonas Åkerlund and showing Britney at peak form and ability." Earlier this week, MTV News took the liberty of mashing together some of the singer's most-iconic music-video dance scenes to give fans an idea of what Brit's new clip might look like.

In terms of Spears' press plans, the follow-up to 2008's Circus will be met with "a major TV event to launch the album" and a TV campaign, which will feature a variation of spots before the LP hits stores. The promotional rollout will extend to advertisements on everything from the Internet to the side of taxicabs. Other marketing schemes include a "LGBT/Lifestyle campaign," worldwide online fan contests and routine tweets from Brit.

Adam Leber, the singer's manager, took to Twitter to dish details on Brit's latest photo shoot and to remind them to keep their patience.

"Britney Spears did a photoshoot for her album package yesterday," he wrote. "Photos are nothing less than spectacular. We'll share some soon." He later tweeted: "So many good things coming down the pipeline. Britney fans should be excited. Album is incredible, video is fire, photoshoot is pure glam. Patience isn't just a great song by Guns N' Roses. All good things to those who wait."

'Glee' snub Eminem over high fee demands

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has revealed that he opted not to use one of Eminem's songs on the show due to the excessive fee demanded by the rapper.

According to NME, Eminem's record label asked for $200,000 for the use of one of his tracks in an upcoming episode of the series.

"We couldn't do it because the episode would've been so over-budget," Murphy said, after deciding to rework plans for the episode in question.

Earlier this week, Murphy engaged in a war of words with rock band Kings of Leon after they denied Murphy the use of their songs on the show.

Glee returns from its mid-season break in the US on February 6. The show continues in the UK on Mondays at 9pm on E4.

Jennifer Lopez Accused of Copying Kat DeLuna's Music Video

Jennifer Lopez has been accused of stealing ideas for her new "On the Floor" music video from a promo by R&B singer Kat DeLuna, just a week after fans pointed out similarities between the two songs. The "Jenny From the Block" hitmaker debuted her new single last week, January 18, and critics have claimed the lyrics and harmonies are similar to DeLuna's track "Party O'Clock", which was released in Europe in November 2010. Both tracks were worked on by the same music producer, RedOne.

Images from Lopez's accompanying video have now emerged online and DeLuna's fans claim there are striking similarities to the "Party O'Clock" promo. Lopez's costumes and dance moves are said to mirror DeLuna's in the new clip. DeLuna has spoken out about the video furore and accused Lopez of "taking away" her ideas.

She tells the New York Daily News, "I've seen this before, where the more established artist tries to take the vision and artistic ideas away from an emerging artist, and assumes no one will notice because of their bigger shadow. Luckily, my loyal fans and the power of the internet have let the 'Kat' out of the bag."

But DeLuna insists she won't be taking any action against the superstar, adding, "Business is business."

Gilles Peterson on new Radiohead album: “It’s Done I Believe”

In news not derived via Google Translate, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke recently made an appearance at The Worldwide Awards 2011, where he presented Flying Lotus with the award for Album of the Year. As you can see in the video below (via Some Kind of Awesome), BBC 1′s Gilles Peterson caught up with the two men shortly after the presentation. What you don’t see, however, is the news that Yorke apparently shared with Peterson at some other point during the evening.

“I think we’re just lucky that Radiohead are having some free time at the moment. And Thom was just hanging out. He enjoyed himself. And there’s a new Radiohead album if you’re wondering. Just done I believe,” Peterson said during his Worldwide Awards highlights show on BBC 1. Listen to the clip here (the part about Radiohead begins at 1:26).

Much like every piece of Radiohead news, nothing is confirmed until an album shows up on what.CD or Jonny Greenwood issues a public proclamation. Either way, take some time to daydream.

Britney Spears Is A 'Tigress' In 'Hold It Against Me' Video, Choreographer Says

Sure, details are limited on what the Jonas Åkerlund-directed video for Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" is going to look like, but when Brit's choreographer, Brian Friedman, sat down with MTV News, he teased some scintillating details about the video.

"I didn't necessarily have pressure with this — it was more excitement," he said of working with the pop diva again. "I haven't been with Britney in five years on a project, so it was excitement to be back with her. It was excitement to get her dancing really hard again 'cause she's had a couple of years where she's been dancing different styles of dance and it hasn't been me.

"It's not necessarily that she hasn't been dancing, it hasn't been what I get from her, and what I seem to get from her is this tigress quality," he continued. "And she prowls. She really dominates when she does my choreography, and that's what I wanted to get back. Excited yes, scared no."

Shot over two days last weekend, the video shows Spears in a look she tweeted from the set. The preview pic, a lo-res photo, shows Spears from the shoulders up, standing with her back to the camera and her face turned toward it. The singer is in a red outfit, surrounded by a wreath of microphones.

While Friedman danced around any specific details about the clip, he did share that the video will have 10 male dancers. He also told us his favorite part: "I love nudity," he teased.

"I can tell you that Britney is wearing a couple of hats in this video — not literal hats, but she's playing roles in this video. That is what I can give you," he explained. "In every role, she is dancing. She is going to be dancing throughout the whole video. Like I said: Dance is the focal point of this video."

He also teased a bit about the costumes: "She's taking fashion risks. Things we've never seen her wear before she's wearing in this video, and I think it's just very sexy and it's a little bit playful," he added. "She's going to be doing something in this video that we've never seen her do. I'm not gonna tell you what that is but she's going to be sweating and she's going to be getting bruised and battered."

Did Lady GaGa plagiarize “Born this Way”?

Britney Spears recently came under fire when American country duo The Bellamy Brothers accused her of copying a line from one of their songs for her chart topper “Hold It Against Me”, and now it looks like Lady GaGa is about to end up in the same boat, but this time, the offence is much more severe than just one vague pick-up line.

Earlier today GaGa unveiled the official lyrics and production credits for her new single “Born this Way”, listing herself as the sole songwriter. The gay rights anthem contained lines like “No matter gay, straight or bi / lesbian, transgendered life…” and “I’m beautiful in my own way / ‘Cause God makes no mistakes / I’m the right track, baby / I was born this way.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like GaGa’s “Born this Way” was her bright idea at all.

A strikingly similar song titled “I was Born this Way” was released back in 1975 by Motown artist Valentino, and is regarded as the first ever ‘coming out’ song. It was then re-recorded and released by Carl Bean, becoming a disco hit. Over the years it’s popped up again over the place, making an appearance on Pet Shop Boys album and being featured in the popular independent film Not Another Gay Teen Movie.

Check out some of the lyrics to “I was Born this Way” below, and then take a listen to Carl Bean and Valentino’s individual versions of the hit and see what you think.

I’m happy, I’m carefree and I’m gay

I was born this way

You call me strange ’cause you don’t understand

God’s role for me in life’s overall plan

I’ve learned to hold my head up high

Not in scorn nor disgrace

Doin’ my thing individually

Entwined with this human race

Now I won’t judge you – don’t you judge me

We’re all the way nature meant us to be

This doesn’t seem like some vague coincidence — the song is almost identical in both concept and lyrics to the “Born this Way” that Lady GaGa tweeted out today.

Janet Jackson's "Number Ones" tour adds more dates in sold-out cities

Janet Jackson is getting ready to kick-off her “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour” and it’s only appropriate that she’s become the #1 hottest-selling ticket of the year.
clearpxl

Apparently lots of fans want to get “Up Close and Personal” with Miss Janet (though when she’s performing in 10,000-seat venues, I have to wonder how up close and personal you could possibly get). Jackson has just had to add a third date in Los Angeles.

Tickets to the original April 14th date at Gibson Amphitheatre sold out in less than 10 minutes. A newly added date on April 15th sold out quickly as well. An additional date on Saturday, April 16th has been added as well.

This comes on the heels of Janet already having to add additional dates in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco after those tickets sold out, with multiple nights already sold out across the country.

Her website sold out 96% of presale tickets in the first day of on-sales, while her date at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara now ranks as one of the fastest sold out shows in the 25-year history that the Santa Barbara Bowl has been open.

It was probably smart of Janet to have her fans vote for the cities where she’s performing. In celebration of her 35 #1 hits, the fans chose the 35 cities in which Janet would be performing, which has also included overseas dates in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Manila. In turn, Jackson will dedicate a song to the fans in each of the cities.

Janet is promising to perform all 35 of her #1 hits, including “If,” “Miss You Much,” “Go Deep,” “Feedback,” and more when she hits the stage later this year. “These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible," Jackson said about the upcoming tour.

"These concerts are not about special effects,” she continued. “This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I'll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you've made number ones for me. Let's go!” Go on, Miss Janet.

Miley Cyrus Two-Time Worst Influence Award Winner

Each year they ascribe the title of Worst Influence to a celebrity, and AOL’s JSYK website has named Miley Cyrus to the top of the list for a second year in a row.

The “Hannah Montana” babe beat Lindsay Lohan, Demi Lovato, Kanye West, and Chace Crawford to end up in the dubious #1 slot.

There’s no doubt Miley’s scandalous salvia smoking session and her almost-flashing photographs from a gay bar had something to do with the ranking.

Cyrus garnered 58% of JSYK’s 99,000 votes, most of which came from their target 9-to-15-year-old demographic.

Justin Bieber rumored to star in "Captain Canuck" movie

Now that a certain masked Canuck is dominating the worldwide box office in 'The Green Hornet,' it looks like another Canadian hero could soon be coming to theaters (and theatres!) near you.

According to a recent report in the L.A. Times, Captain Canuck, the red-and-white protector of the Great White North, may be getting his own movie. Richard Comely, creator of the proudly Canadian superhero, claims to be close to a deal with a Canadian production company -- he didn't say which -- to produce a live-action movie about his cordial crimefighter. At $15 million, the reported budget would come to approximately the cost of craft services for Marvel's $140 million 'Captain America' blockbuster, but Comely is thinking outside the box to boost his Captain's worldwide potential.

Most notably, he's appealing to another Canadian who's made a successful crossover: none other than Justin Bieber, whose signature swoop is likely far more recognizable south of the border than Captain Canuck's red and white.

For those of you unfamiliar with the maple leaf-costumed hero (or for hockey fans who may be confusing him with Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin), Captain Canuck was created in 1975 as Canada's answer to Captain America. Though he's seen various incarnations over his 30-plus years, the original Captain was a mild-mannered Mountie when a mysterious alien encounter granted him superhuman speed and strength. He then became a special agent and put his powers to good use protecting the nation, which, by the then-futuristic 1993 had become the most powerful country in the world.

Had Comely's prediction come true, he wouldn't have to worry about how to attract an American audience to his uniquely Canadian superhero movie. But Comely told the Hollywood Reporter he may have to consider changing the title for the film to have a chance in the U.S. market. Captain North America, perhaps? In another shrewd marketing move, Comely says he's planning on writing in a part for Canada's current largest export, Justin Bieber, whose powers may include a superhuman ability to make tween girls swoon and empty their parents' wallets.

It remains to be seen just how feasible a live-action Captain Canuck movie would be -- with or without the Bieb -- and the property has been optioned for film or TV several times over the years to no avail. Still, with moviegoers' interest in superheroes at an all-time high and Canadians in demand for crimefighter casting, the stars may finally be aligned for Captain Canuck. Is the movie world ready for its first "polite" and "gentler" superhero? We're about to find out... Captain America, you're officially on notice.

Nicki Minaj's 'Moment 4 Life' Video To Premiere Thursday On MTV

On Thursday, Nicki Minaj will reveal her long-awaited "Moment 4 Life" video on MTV. The clip, which was shot in December in Los Angeles, features Young Money labelmate Drake and is rumored to show the pair playing up their "are they or aren't they?" relationship with a kiss.

The "Moment 4 Life" clip will premiere at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV.

When MTV News' Sway spoke to Drake on the set of "Moment 4 Life," the MC compared the success of his and Minaj's debut albums to Weezy's opening-week sales of Tha Carter III, saying each subsequent project further cemented the collective's status.

"I think it's crazy that somehow, some higher power brought all these individuals together," Drake said. "I remember being on the [tour] bus when Wayne played me Tha Carter III, which went on to sell a million copies in one week. Then it was Thank Me Later. It was this big pressure, and that went on to sell what it did.

"And now," he continued, "to think of the girl that I used to ride the bus with — and that's what she was to me: this girl that I rode the bus with. I was like, 'Female rap?' And I'm being dead honest with you. [I thought,] 'Man, it's been a while since there's been a female rapper, and I'm curious to see how this works.' It's not that I didn't believe. And she was probably looking at me like, 'This Jew from Canada: I don't know.' "

And now, after the successful debut of Pink Friday, the Toronto lyricist said he couldn't be happier for Minaj.

"It's amazing now to see her come into her own, build this brand and persona," he said. "It's incredible."

Can Florence Welch Take On Justin Bieber at the Grammys?

The 2011 Grammys are still a few weeks away, but English indie rocker Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine is already pumped.

"I'm so excited!" she gushed to E! News during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival. But when the Justin Bieber was mentioned as a possible rival for Best New Artist (an award he won at the VMAs), Welch showed no signs of being nervous. Is she ready?

"I am just really happy to be nominated and to go out there and just see what happens." Ah, classic English modesty. But awards competition aside, the two stars have more in common than they think.

She may not have been discovered on YouTube, but like Bieber she had to prove herself in somewhat smaller venues before her big break. Welch went from singing in little pubs in London to wowing us all with her performance at last year's MTV Video Music Awards.

And as she told us, it's those small performances that transformed her into such a showstopper.

"I was always pretty loud. I think that was part of it...where the style of singing came from, having to get people's attention," Welch said. "Everyone's talking and drinking and you kind of really have to command the room. I kind of learned actually how to control it more and now what's lucky is people are already listening and I don't have to shout to get their attention."

Nicki Minaj Doesn't Think Kids Should Listen To Her Music

Nicki Minaj worries about being a role model for young fans.

She explained, "Being honest, if I had a daughter I wouldn't want her listening to a Nicki Minaj CD until she was a certain age. Even when I meet my fans and they tell me they are 12, I cringe a little. I always say, 'Listen. I don't want you saying the bad words, put school first.'"

Rapper Rick Ross, rocker Travis Barker and Nicki will reportedly join Lil Wayne on his comeback tour. The Lollipop hit-maker will launch the 25-date I Am Music II trek with a show in Buffalo, New York on March 18th, before hitting the stage in cities including Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia.

"We are very pleased that we are able to bring together New Kids On The Block, The Backstreet Boys and their New England fans at Fenway Park. This will be an unforgettable night for us all,” said Dave Marsden, Vice President of Booking for Live Nation New England.

NKOTBSB’s Fenway Park announcement comes just after their epic performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011.” NKOTBSB sent thousands of screaming and dancing fans into a fan frenzy. With throngs of fans in the middle of Times Square singing along to their smash hit singles, and millions more tuning in from home, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys once again reaffirmed their place in pop culture proving why their ticket is the hottest ticket of the summer.

NKOTBSB first shocked and delighted fans when they took the stage together for a medley at the sold out NKOTB Radio City Music Hall show. The two groups wowed audiences again in their first joint televised performance at the American Music Awards this past November. The performers had the audience on their feet when they unleashed hit after hit including Backstreet’s “I Want It That Way” and NKOTB’s “Hangin’ Tough,” sending the crowd into rip-roaring applause.

With over 200 million albums sold between both bands, and smash hit after smash hit, these two pop sensations have dominated the music scene for over three decades. Aiming to please, these guys are giving concert goers and diehard fans everywhere the ultimate “night out” experience.

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Video Is 'Profound,' Makeup Artist Says

We may not know what it looks like, but we know it's coming soon, and, from the sound of things, it's going to be quite the experience.

We're talking, of course, about Lady Gaga's hotly anticipated "Born This Way" video, which she apparently shot this past weekend, and, according to her makeup artist Billy Brasfield, it's the kind of thing that defies explanation. And adjectives. (Though that didn't stop him from heaping 'em on.) In fact, the "BTW" video is apparently so awe-inducing that it brought Brasfield to tears.

"Have you ever been a part of something that was so profound, so inspiring, so incredibly beautiful, that as it was happening, it brought tears to your eyes and you had been given a gift, and you were thankful?" he tweeted on Monday. "It happened to me [and] I am thankful. 1/22, 1/23, 1/24- 2011 LADY GAGA--#BORNTHISWAY."

Brasfield then followed that message up with another tweet Tuesday morning (January 25), in which he continued to pile praise on the "Born This Way" clip.

"After days of sensory overload, of amazing song, ridiculously beautiful imagery, fashion, beautiful People, great friends, and a life changing experience, I am awake again after 24 hours of sleep," he wrote. "Hello New York City and snow."

Of course, Brasfield isn't the only member of Gaga's team hyping the "Born This Way" video these days. On Monday, LG's fashion director (and Thierry Mugler creative director) Nicola Formichetti took to his Twitter account to praise the shoot, writing, "Ok kids, get ready for ['Born This Way']. We've just created the most amazing thing ever."

The Strokes announce Angles tracklist

Below, you’ll find the tracklist for The Strokes’ long-awaited fourth album, Angles, due for release March 22nd via RCA. The 10-track effort will be proceeded by lead single “Under Cover of Darkness”, which will arrive in February.

In related news, guitarist Nick Valensi recently sat down with MySpace Music and dropped a few interesting tidbits concerning the band’s first album in five years:

On the scrapped sessions with producer Joe Chiccarelli: “We liked a lot of stuff from those sessions.. To be honest with you, I think we learned a lot from those sessions. He worked us really hard and we were probably very unrehearsed and unpolished going into those sessions. And he worked us fuckin 12 hours a day just doing takes all day. By the time we were by ourselves (remixing at guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.’s home studio), we were working more freely and more the way that we wanted to, but at the same time, we had all this kind of knowledge and practice under us, or behind us I should say, that we wouldn’t have had if we hadn’t have gone through (the Chiccarelli sessions). I’m really glad that we went through those two months with Joe.”

On appeasing fans after a long delay: “I feel like it’s gonna be impossible for us to make music that’ll live up five years of nothing. It’s kind of that Chinese Democracy syndrome. You take that much time off.. no matter what you do it’s not gonna be as good as people want it to be. I feel like no matter what the record is, or how hard we worked on it, or how much we like it, it’s not gonna live up to people’s expectations only because of those five years between the last one and this one.”

On the band’s future: “I really want to just get in a room with the band and share ideas . We really haven’t done that yet. I’ve been trying to rally the troops again. I don’t know exactly when we’re gonna do that. I’ve got a lot of ideas and Julian was telling me he’s got a lot of ideas.. So hopefully we’ll do that soon and it won’t be another five years before the next album comes out.”

Angles Tracklist:
01. Machu Picchu
02. Under Cover of Darkness
03. Two Kinds of Happiness
04. You’re So Right
05. Taken For A Fool
06. Games
07. Call Me Back
08. Gratisfaction
09. Metabolism
10. Life Is Simple In The Moonlight

Britney Spears Returning to 'Edgy' Sound on New Album

While Britney Spears's new single, "Hold It Against Me," may have provided an upbeat preview of her new album, what will the rest of the work sound like?

"It's way more edgy than the last album," songwriter Claude Kelly, who composed several tracks for the as-yet-untitled album, tells PEOPLE at a New York NARAS reception. He adds that Spears, 29, is returning to the grittier sounds of 2007's Blackout. "[It's] more in the vein of the album before," he says.

Though Kelly admits he's not completely sure what the "final product is going to be," he does say, "the last album [2008's Circus] was more clean pop. [Its purpose] was to reintroduce Britney to the world as the pop princess."

As the first single also indicates, Spears, who Tweeted from her "Hold It Against Me" video shoot this weekend, has new tunes are definitely club-worthy.

"She's always ready," Kelly says. "Dr. Luke and Max Martin are running the show, and it's all about the beats. It has a heavier bass line and it's much harder, more urgent, more club. She's ready again!"

Michael Jackson's 'Moonwalker' To Get U.S. Theater Debut?

Michael Jackson's short-film anthology "Moonwalker" may finally get a debut theatrical screening in the United States more than 20 years after it was released.
Back in 1988, MJ first unveiled the ambitious project, which contained several long-form videos for songs off his then-just-released Bad album, including his famous 25-minute clip for "Smooth Criminal." The film had been scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters that Christmas, but for whatever reason, that plan was scrapped. The movie was released on VHS early in 1989, and — surprise, surprise — became a massive success. But now, more than two decades after its debut, one theater is planning to give "Moonwalker" a proper premiere here in the States.

According to TMZ, Hollywood's Arclight Cinemas is actively searching for a print of the film, with plans to show it on the big screen ... for one night only.
The idea came after Jackson fans flooded Arclight's Facebook page with requests to show "Moonwalker," and the theater is now on the hunt for a copy of the flick. Even if the search is successful, there's no word on when the premiere would occur. The theater had not responded to MTV News' e-mail seeking a comment by press time.
However, Jackson fans might not want to hold their breath. In a follow-up story, TMZ reported that the late singer's estate had blocked Arclight's attempts to secure a print of the film, with a spokesperson for the theater telling the website: "We contacted the film's directors and producers and were finally directed to MJ's estate attorney [who] let us know the estate has the [film's] rights but have no plans to make ... prints available for rent at this time."
"Moonwalker" features videos for Jackson tracks like "Speed Demon" (directed by Claymation innovator Will Vinton), "Leave Me Alone" (which was released as a promo and won Jackson a 1989 Grammy for Best Music Video, Short Form) and, as mentioned, the iconic "Criminal," which features Jackson battling a group of mobsters led by Joe Pesci.
The flick also served as the inspiration for the super-awesome Sega game "Moonwalker, which featured a digital MJ morphing into a laser-blasting robot with the aid of his chimpanzee pal, Bubbles.

Lady Gaga Post

Lady Gaga’s official website has been updated with a countdown to the release of her new single “Born This Way,” which will premiere on Sunday, February 13th.

An official Facebook event has also been created for the song release. Make sure to join it by clicking “I’m Attending” on the event page!
Rumored "Born This Way" promotional shot:

Britney Spears Post

“Gucci Mane has confirmed to sources that he’s throwing down a few lines for Britney Spears‘ new album,” writes Perez Hilton, who adds, “The pair are set to meet next week in an Atlanta studio to record a track called Hit.”

Perez goes on to note, “Gucci insisted that Britney was a fan of his music for years and her adoration is what persuaded him to record a song with her.”

The blogger, who doesn’t bother to fact-check, is once again regurgitating bad dish from hacks and amateurs at other wannabe entertainment sites.

Gossip Cop, however, has learned directly from Spears’ manager that there is “no shot” of a collaboration.

Whew!

Justin Bieber is working with Sean Garrett to create more mature sound

Now that he’s made a couple million off of feeding the dreams of high school girls the world over, Justin Bieber is ready to switch his style up. According to Sean Garrett, Bieber is ready to revamp his sound and become the next White Chocolate, a la Timberlake and Thicke.
“What we’re trying to do with Justin is to segue him into young adulthood,” says Garrett. “The one great thing about Justin Bieber is the fact that his fans are going to grow with him. So we want all the fans that started out with him to still be intrigued and excited about him, but we want to also stretch out a little bit and make the fans that are 22-23 years old love Justin as well. When Justin Timberlake went from the last album of *NSync to his first solo album — I want to say [we're aiming for] that level. That’s the bar for the type of song, that level of ‘Cry Me a River,’ big records.”

Music Video: Avril Lavigne - "What the Hell"

Lady Gaga Taps Downtown Fashion House to Design 'Beautiful Hate Crime' Dress

The avant-garde fashion label House of Diehl received an e-mail late Monday from one of Lady Gaga's stylists.

"Are you guys around? We need seven dresses for a video shoot by this Friday," the note read, according to Roman Milisic, one half of House of Diehl.

Mary Jo Diehl, the creative force and namesake behind House of Diehl and Milisic's wife, said, "No problem, we don't do ready-to-wear, we do ready-to-rumble!"

Turning around seven dresses in three days is a daunting, if not impossible, task. But for a small New York label like House of Diehl, getting your clothes in a Lady Gaga video is a huge break.

"Gaga can choose a dress by anybody in the whole world, and who else wears avant garde fashion?" said Milisic on Tuesday, from House of Diehl's live-work space on West 26th Street. "All of her clothes in her last video were from Alexander McQueen, so this is great!"

Milisic and Diehl don't have any details about the video, nor any guarantees that their outfits will be chosen for it. They know, though, that their garments will be among the options for a video from a song off Gaga's upcoming album, "Born This Way," which reportedly begins shooting next week.

Diehl said that some designers will pay $50,000 to $100,000 or more to have a star like Lady Gaga wear their clothes. The PR is priceless, so the duo have dropped everything to get the job done.

Two young fashion designers/garment makers, Buffi Jashanmal and Christine Brown, have been called in to lend a hand.

"Roman (Milisic) is like the MacGyver of fashion," said Diehl. "He can make a dress out of anything."

Milisic took photographs of his work so far and e-mailed them to Gaga's stylist for approval.

"If they say it's stupid, we've only wasted three hours," said Milisic.

Mid-afternoon Tuesday, confident in their concepts, it was time to gather materials. Brown, Jashanmal, an intern named Katerina, Milisic and Diehl gathered in something resembling a football huddle, with Milisic and Diehl acting as co-quarterbacks.

Brown and the intern were dispatched to local vintage clothing stores and H&M to look for acid-washed jeans; Jashanmal was sent downtown to look for old lamps in a used furniture store near Vandam and Sixth; and Diehl volunteered to scour what she called the chandelier district in Flatiron, for anything that would yield colored glass.

"It's like a scavenger hunt," said Milisic.

"It's like a military fashion mission," said Diehl

Gretchen Wilson Ends Up Jealous of Kanye West and Lady Gaga

Kanye West made headlines for all the wrong reasons in 2009, after his rude interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech during the MTV Video Music Awards. But another country star was the first to be subjected to the rapper's rants, before Taylor was even old enough to drive.

Gretchen Wilson beat out Kanye and Maroon 5 to take home the American Music Award in 2004 for Favorite Breakthrough Artist. It was a loss the rapper didn't take quietly. "I felt like I was definitely robbed," he declared after the ceremony. "I was the best new artist this year."

The incident may have happened over six years ago, but the 'Redneck Woman' singer still has strong feelings about it. "I think he's an ass for acting like that," Gretchen tells CMT. "He really is. He makes quite a spectacle. Grow up! Quit being such a baby! If somebody beats you, it's because they deserve to beat you. And I don't know if you remember all the way back to the first time -- I outsold you, bro! Do your homework."

The Grammy winner (and current nominee) says she wasn't intimidated by Kanye's pompous claims then, nor is she intimidated by him now. "It's kinda cool for me to know that I was the first," Gretchen admits. "Kanye, just remember, I was your first. And I'm not above kicking your ass."

She's also not above putting her music up against the material of other more mainstream artists. "I have learned over the last six years that the most important thing is the show itself, not all of the drama, not whether you can paint yourself up like Lady Gaga," Gretchen tells The Boot. "You need to kick their butts with the music and the energy and that's what we do with this group. You wouldn't call it an easy show with Gretchen Wilson; It's more like a Lynyrd Skynyrd show that leans toward southern rock energy. We play songs they are familiar with, new songs and really rock 'n' roll."

Slash Refuses to Allow Guns N' Roses Music on 'Glee'

Slash has told Entertainment Weekly that he rejected a request from the producers of Glee to use Guns N' Roses music in an episode of the series. His reasoning was pretty simple: He thinks the hit show is horrible.

"Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough," he told EW. "I look at Grease now and think, 'Between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a work of art.'" So Slash is definitely not a fan of squeaky-clean singing teens.

The guitarist does not have a hardline stance against licensing Guns N' Roses' hits, but prefers to lend his music and image to projects he endorses. For example, his distinctive image is used extensively in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Slash also discussed the future of his band Velvet Revolver with EW, saying that the group is currently auditioning a new singer. He was mum on details, but admitted that among the possible candidates, "There’s one guy that’s definitely pretty well-known." Speculate away!

Jennifer Lopez's 'On The Floor' Video To Be An 'Underground Party'

This weekend, Jennifer Lopez is set to film the music video for her club banger "On the Floor." MTV News was at auditions in L.A., where some of the area's most skilled and unique dancers showed up to see if they might make the final cut for the video.

On Thursday, the video's director, Taj, revealed what he was looking to capture in the clip: "Originality, being you. This song is about being who you want. It's about letting loose. There's no explanation. This is this underground video, this underground party."

Choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. gushed over the chance to work with the new "American Idol" judge on the clip. "I love working with J.Lo," he said. "She's a sweetheart. She understands the business."

Gatson also talked a bit about what the crew has in mind for the video's funky vibe. "I kind of get the feeling that she wants us to be in the club after 2 a.m. in L.A.," he revealed. "That's so amazing. [It's like] everybody had some watermelon and the watermelon made them high, it gave them a little buzz — but a good buzz, a real magical buzz, a dance buzz, a buzz that makes you feel like fried chicken, so she just wants everybody to have a good old time.

"The club must have this vibe, where you get on the floor and everybody's bringing it," he added. "We've seen so many club videos, but we want to see a club video with a vibe unique to Jennifer Lopez."

"On the Floor" producer RedOne recently talked to MTV News about the track. "Of course, she's global. She's a global artist," he said. "She's a global actress, and the music has to be global, and the rhythmic side of it or the Latin and this thing of a dancer [all has to be there].

"She said, 'I want to dance. I want to make people dance and be able to sing with me.' That's what we did, and it feels good. I think we're going to have a big one."

Gucci Mane Recording a Track With Britney Spears?

Sometimes a rumor is so crazy, bizarre and puzzling that we have to engage with it. The most current one goes a little something like this: Britney Spears is recording a track with Atlanta trap rapper and purveyor of crazy facial tattoos Gucci Mane. This has to be a pipe dream, right? There's no way this could be real.

Well, Gucci's publicist, Kali Bowyer, says it is indeed happening. In an interview with XXL, she revealed that the word-hungry rapper has been recording with both Spears and former Destiny's Child sidekick Kelly Rowland. With legal problems still swirling around him and his associates, Gucci seems to be getting it in these days.

"We've been running around all day," Bowyer said. "We've been shooting a video. And then we'll be shooting another video with Kelly Rowland. Gucci's been working with Britney Spears. All while filming a reality TV show."

Apparently, Mr. Mane and Spears are tracking a remix to her current hit 'Hold It Against Me.' While we're not sure there is much crossover between the artists' fanbases, this could make for an interesting mix. When asked about why he would record with Spears, Gucci gave a response that's both simple and questionable.

"Britney's so icy," he said to Rumor Fix. "I'm going to make her go Brrr."

Jennifer Lopez To Shoot 'On The Floor' Video This Weekend

That was fast! A days after Jennifer Lopez's new single "On the Floor" premiered, the pop star is already gearing up to shoot a music video for the RedOne-produced dance tune.

Making the radio rounds to promote her "American Idol" judging debut, the triple-threat entertainer spoke about an open casting call she's holding for the track's clip, which is scheduled to be shot this weekend.

"We're going to be looking for real club kids," Lopez told Ryan Seacrest during his radio show Wednesday (January 19). "You know those kids who go to the club and they dance all night and that's all they care about? It's just about having a good time, getting all sweaty, and it's all about the music and leaving it on the dance floor."

Asked what the concept will be for the "On the Floor" video, J.Lo kept mum: "I don't want to say what the video is, but that's the type of dancers. We're doing a big casting call."

Keeping to her word, the singer later tweeted audition details: "Open Casting Call for HOT dancers/club kids for my new video!!! This Thurs 4-6PM @ 1258 N. Highland Ave Hollywood, CA 90038. LET'S GO!"

Speaking with KTU 103.5, the singer talked about "On the Floor," the lead single from her heavily delayed LP, Love?, saying the tune was the result of studio sessions with Lady Gaga producer RedOne.

"I'm really excited about it," she gushed about the Pitbull-featuring single. "We worked together to do some songs for my album that's coming out soon. I've been working on this album for a while. It's just exciting to have the first single really out there. Pit, I love working it. I've worked with him before. We have a good chemistry. I'm just excited. It's a hot song."

As for the song's international sound, Lopez said she was looking to evolve her urban/pop sound. "It feels like me today, which I like. It's not something that you hear and you're like, 'That's not her,' but you also go, 'Is that her? I like that. It's new,' and that's what I wanted. I wanted it to be very me, but I wanted it to be me not from my first album or my second album, but for today."

Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' Debuts Atop Hot 100

Britney Spears becomes just the second artist in the Billboard Hot 100's 52-year history to debut multiple songs at No. 1, as "Hold It Against Me" blasts in at the summit.

Spears previously launched at the apex with "3" the week of Oct. 24, 2009. She joins Mariah Carey as the only acts to arrive at No. 1 more than once. Carey made such grand entrances with "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" in 1995 and "Honey" in 1997. (All charts will be refreshed tomorrow (Jan. 20) on Billboard.com).

"Hold It Against Me" is the 18th song to debut at No. 1 and the first since Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" the week of Nov. 13, 2010.

The track is Spears' fourth No. 1 on the Hot 100. Prior to "3," she reigned with her debut single "...Baby One More Time" (two weeks, 1999) and "Womanizer" (one week, 2008).

"Hold It Against Me" starts atop Digital Songs with 411,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As previously reported, the sum marks the highest debut frame by a lead female artist, besting the 325,000 shifted by Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" the week of Feb. 6, 2010.

On Radio Songs, "Hold It Against Me" begins at No. 23 with 45 million first-week audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. The song's No. 23 entrance is the chart's best since Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" began at the same rank the week of March 1, 2008.

Two other tracks storm the upper reaches of the Hot 100. "What the Hell," the first single from Avril Lavigne's fourth album, "Goodbye Lullaby," due March 8, opens at No. 13. The song starts at No. 6 on Digital Songs with sales of 163,000.

At No. 23 on the Hot 100, Kanye West and Jay-Z debut with "H*A*M." The first single from the superstar pair's upcoming collaborative album, "Watch the Throne," enters Digital Songs at No. 10 (125,000).

Directly below "Hold It Against Me" on the Hot 100, three titles dip one notch each: Bruno Mars' "Grenade" (1-2), Katy Perry's "Firework" (2-3) and Rihanna's "What's My Name?," featuring Drake (3-4).

Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" lifts 7-5, jumping Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E (6-6), while "We R Who We R" slides 4-7.

P!nk descends 5-8 with "Raise Your Glass" but claims dual Greatest Gainer/Digital and Airplay honors with "F**kin' Perfect" (57-30). The second new track from her "Greatest Hits... So Far!!!" retrospective bounds 66-25 on Digital Songs (70,000, up 95%) and 68-44 (27.5 million, up 54%) on Radio Songs.

The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and Mars' "Just the Way You Are" round out the Hot 100 top 10, each dropping a rung to Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

Jessie J Wants Nicki Minaj for Remix

Getting a verse from Nicki Minaj is not easy these days, but Jessie J is up to the task. The British singer-songwriter has set her sights on recruiting the in-demand rapper and she’s not stopping until she gets what she wants.

The 22-year-old BRIT Award honoree tried reaching out to the Harajuku Barbie for a remix, but was unsuccessful at first. “I tried to, but I think she’s a busy lady,” she tells Rap-Up.com. “I’d love to have her on my ‘Do It Like a Dude’ [remix] for the U.S., but I like to let things happen organically. I think if she likes it, it’ll happen.”

Now that she’s making a name for herself, Jessie hopes to reignite talks in-person at next month’s Grammy Awards. “I’m a huge fan of hers. I’m just gonna maybe bug her at the Grammys like, ‘Hi, we have the same hair.’ You never know. I’m just gonna keep an open mind and see what happens.”

The stars may align sooner as Nicki visits Jessie’s London hometown this week for her Pink Friday promo tour.

New Music: Jennifer Lopez f/ Pitbull – "On the Floor"

On the Floor - J.Lo feat. Pitbull by HDMI44

Cher scores number 1 single in each of the last 6 decades

Propelled by Sunday’s Golden Globe win for best original song, Cher‘s Burlesque contribution ‘You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me‘ is set to top the American Dance/Club Play chart released by Billboard. It might just be a dance chart, but this feat will make Cher the only act to have had a number 1 Billboard single in each of the last six decades.

When told about the achievement, she told Billboard:

“How can it be six decades when I’m only four decades?”

Fierce.

Written by power ballad queen Diane Warren, ‘You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me’ has been remixed by the likes of Dave Aude, StoneBridge, Edson Pride and Almighty (listen to the latter below).

The Pretty Reckless Announce Headline Tour in Support of Debut CD, Light Me Up

THE PRETTY RECKLESS, fronted by Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen, hit the road in support of their full length cd, Light Me Up available digitally February 8th on Interscope Records. Runner Runner support The Pretty Reckless on their headline tour which commences February 11th in Los Angeles concluding March 20th in Hartford, CT.

Rollingstone.com picked TPR as one of the five breakout bands to watch at this year's festival and Spin.com called Momsen's songs "pretty kickass." "The girl can really wail, singing with a remarkably raspy, world-weary howl that's worth taking seriously." The video for the focus track, "Just Tonight" can be viewed at http://bit.ly/JustTonight. The songs are all written by Momsen, her producer Kato Khandwala (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, All Time Low) and guitarist Ben Phillips.

Momsen is the face of Madonna's "Material Girl" clothing line sold exclusively at Macy's. In addition, Taylor is the face of John Galliano's newest fragrance "parlez-moi d'amour" (Talk to me about love – http://bit.ly/TaylorGalliano).
