If you follow me on Twitter then you’d already know this stuff from yesterday, but now that I have proof that the news is real I thought I’d go ahead and post it anyway.
Britney Spears’ managers spoke to the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, most likely to discuss the success of her recent record-breaking Glee episode, but they also revealed some details about her forthcoming album (due “early next year”) and addressed on her noticeable absence from the spotlight.
“It’s not a comeback”, insists Larry Rudolph, the manager who discovered Speares as a teen and who still guides her career. “She’s an iconic artist, She’s like Madonna, she’s here to stay”.
To be fair Spears hasn’t exactly been hiding out, her Circus tour was the 5th highest grossing of 09′. But compared with the days when she shocked the world by canoodling with pythons and Madonna on MTV, she’s been keeping a low profile. In fact her appearance on Glee could be her biggest national exposure since the breakdown in 08′. Rudolph explains her relative absence from the pop culture conversation: “She just wanted to spend a year getting back to basics, being a mom. But now she’s moving into a new album cycle”.
Adam Leber then goes on to discuss Britney’s next album, promising an all new sound from the Holy Spearit.
That new album arriving as soon as early next year, will introduce a fresh, “progressive” sound from Spears, according to the stars manager Adam Leber. “It’ll be a departure from what you’ve heard,” he promises.
For the most part, Britney has kept a similar sound throughout her career, only ever drastically diverting from her successful formula for 2007′s Blackout. Going by Adam’s comments, and taking into account the A-list array of producers like William Orbit that Britney has been working with, and it seems that we could be getting an all new sound for 2011.
Meanwhile TMZ delivered a short-and-sweet exclusive on Britney this week, revealing that she’s wrapped up three new songs for her album and “she loves ‘em”.
The anticipation is killing me.
