Lupe Fiasco, Trey Songz To Perform At 2011 MTV Movie Awards

We just can't get Lupe Fiasco's songs out of our head, so the Chicago rapper has been tapped to perform alongside Trey Songz at the 2011 MTV Movies Awards. On the live June 5 show, Lu will rock two songs from his Lasers album which debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart when it was released earlier this year.

First Fiasco will take the stage with Trigga Trey to do their collabo song "Out of My Head" for the first time together on television, then Lupe will perform his platinum Kane Beatz-produced single "The Show Goes On."

" 'Out of My Head' is such a dope song and easily one of my favorite collaborations to date," Trey Songz said in a statement. "When Lupe first played the track for me I knew it was going to be a smash, and I'm happy it's been received so well. The MTV Movie Awards are such a special event, and Lupe is a great performer, so I am excited to be able to do the show with him."

"I'm excited to be performing on this year's MTV Movie Awards," said Lupe Fiasco. "I'm looking forward to putting together another special performance for my fans."

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by actor/comedian Jason Sudeikis and will be broadcast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Ryan Reynolds, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Jason Segel, Aziz Ansari and Steve Carell are presenting at the show, and more appearances will be announced soon.

Ciara Announces She'll Tour With Timbaland

Ciara has been laying low as of late, but that doesn't mean she plans to stay out of the limelight for long. The singer, who has recently been dealing with a bit of record label drama, announced her return to the stage, as she goes on tour this summer with rapper/producer/general superstar Timbaland.

Ciara's leg of the tour will begin at the end of May, with stops in South Africa and Zimbabwe to promote the ZAR (Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, the dutch term for the South African Republic and an acronym by which it is commonly referred).

Currently there are only four tour dates that have been officially announced: Johanesburg, Durban, Nelspruit, and Harare. The chance for additional dates to be added, however, seems rather high, especially given that Lil' Kim and Fat Joe are also signed on to be a part of the mini-tour.

Kelly Rowland Reveals Her ‘Here I Am’ Album Title

With her current single “Motivation” climbing the chart (this week it’s at #31 on the Hot 100), Kelly Rowland decided the time was right to reveal that the title of her upcoming third solo album is Here I Am. Last month the onetime Destiny’s Child singer mentioned on 106 & Park that the LP would be out in late summer, but it’s apparently now slated for a fall release (probably to allow enough time between her release and Beyonce’s 4). Find out how she came up with the title below.

Miss Kelly explained the meaning behind Here I Am to Billboard:
“I was talking to my product manager. “I said I wanted people to know that this is the record, the sound I’ve been working toward… that here I am. And she said, that’s the title. It just connected with my heart and the music as well. It stands for everything I’ve gone through and thought about for this record as a woman. It’s very strong.”
On 106 & Park last month, Rowland mentioned that the album celebrates women. “It actually starts with ‘Motivation,’ which is of course letting in on that sensual side,” Kelly said. “But the album tells the story of everything else—strength and character…friendship. It’s fantastic.”

In addition to Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, who were behind the boards for “Motivation,” Here I Am also boasts production by Dr. Luke, Stargate, RedOne, Tricky Stewart and Rodney Jerkins. We, for one, are hoping Kelly finally achieves the solo hit status she deserves with this project!

Are you looking forward to the release of her new album? Let us know.

New "Run the World" promo and Beyonce's Billboard issue

Beyonce graces the latest cover of Billboard Magazine, which was unveiled just days after it was announced that she would be receiving Billboards’ first ever Millennium Award. Inside, she reveals that her new album will be titled, “4″.
We all have special numbers in our lives, and 4 is that for me. It’s the day I was born. My mother’s birthday and a lot of my friends’ birthdays are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date
She also discusses her decision to release “Who Run The World (Girls)”, her publicized split with her father Mathew Knowles and her thoughts on “Power”. Check out some highlights below:
[Run The World (Girls)] is definitely riskier than something a bit more…simple. I just heard the track and loved that it was so different: it felt a bit African, a bit electronic and futuristic. It reminded me of what I love, which is mixing different cultures and eras — things that typically don’t go together — to create a new sound. I can never be safe; I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.
On the decision to part ways with Mathew Knowles
It’s not that anything bad happened between us. My family has my support always, and they support me, but when you’ve been working with the same people for 15 years, it’s natural to eventually have your own ideas. I believe that parents prepare their kids for the moment that they’re on their own: at this point, I’m taking everything my dad and my mother have taught me, and I’m able to do things my way. We were at a point where we’d learned so much from each other, and now it’s exciting for me to do this on my own and hire my own team. I’ve started managing myself.
Her thoughts on Power
Power means happiness, power means hard work and sacrifice. To me, it’s about setting a good example, and not abusing your power! You still have to have humility: I’ve seen how you can lead by example, and not by fear. My visit to Egypt was a really big inspiration for me. Once the sun went down, I saw not one woman; it was shocking and fascinating to me, because it was so extreme. I saw thousands of men walking down the street, socializing in bars, praying in mosques – and no women. I felt really proud when I performed and saw the strength that the women were getting through the music. I remember being in Japan when Destiny’s Child put out “Independent Women,” and women there were saying how proud they were to have their own jobs, their own independent thinking, their own goals. It made me feel so good, and I realized that one of my responsibilities was to inspire women in a deeper way
On Her Break
I’m approaching 30, and finally took a break in my life, which I’ve never had. I took more than a year off: I traveled around, spent time with my husband, woke up in my own bed, ate whatever I wanted, went to museums and Broadway plays, watched documentaries, and just had life experiences. I never get to go to concerts because I’m usually performing, so I saw so many shows – great bands, like Muse and Rage Against the Machine, that also inspired the album. There were a lot of artists I’d never been exposed to: I’m like a sponge and soak everything up, and I learned so much from watching these great performers. Having time to grow as a human being was really inspiring, and gave me a lot to pull from. I’m excited about growing: I can just have fun, and the artistic freedom to do whatever I want. At this point, I really know who I am, and don’t feel like I have to put myself in a box. I’m not afraid of taking risks – no one can define me.
