Lady Gaga: The Movie

Lady GaGa is eyeing a career on the big screen and plans to star in her own blockbuster.

Report state that GaGa’s movie will be a cross between Michael Jackson’s film Moonwalker, which tied together the music videos for his Bad album, and the Oscar-winning flick Dreamgirls which starred Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson. Director Bryan Singer, best known for his work on the X-Men films, is said to be interested in the project.

"GaGa is a real creative genius and is thinking about new possibilities all the time,” a source told News of the World. "She's very excited about a movie, but she wants to do it right. She wants to work with the best people in the business."

The Poker Face singer was inspired to make the leap to the silver screen while on the set of her epic nine-minute video for Telephone. “Lady GaGa is a workaholic who loves pushing the boundaries. Straight music is never going to be enough for her,” the insider said. “If she isn't breaking new ground and doing new things she doesn't really feel that she is truly alive. The Telephone video was the closest thing she has done to a film and she was in her element.”

“GaGa wants to emulate what Michael Jackson did during the eighties,” they continued. “You can already see that with her music videos. Every one of them is a mini event. So it's only logical she moves that on to the big screen.”

Lady Gaga Considers Releasing 2 Albums Next Year

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning Lady GaGa revealed some surprising news. The chart monster let it slip that despite previously stating that she had completed her new album she has in fact returned to the studio and is considering releasing 2 records in 2011.

GaGa noted that her creative vigor was inspired by the overturning of California’s Proposition 8 last week. Check out what she had to say below:

“I felt like it was a revolution, like a gunshot went off, like it set us all into rotation,” Gaga said. “It was so exciting when it happened because it, for me, was a moment that indicated that it could happen in every state now…I was so happy and I went into the studio and kept writing [new music].”

She continued on to talk about how the new music would affect her forthcoming third album, that she has said in past interviews was already complete. “I know I told everybody my album was done, which is it kinda is done, but I can’t stop writing music. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I might have to put out two records.” {Source}

2 new albums from GaGa in 2011 would definitely prove to be a bit much. After releasing LP’s in both 2008 and 2009, and embarking on a world tour that has yet to end, I sense that consumers would experience GaGa overload. It may, however, be more plausible to release a double disc album or a standard/deluxe edition combo. Hopefully she makes the right decision.

What do you think Lady Gaga should do? Two CDs in one year? Two CDs over two years? One standard album and one deluxe album? One huge album?

NO New Britney Album

From BreatheHeavy.com -

Many speculate Britney will release a single in August, and an album launching this fall. UNTRUE, according to a music industry insider who emailed BreatheHeavy with details. In fact, they claim the album isn't even near completion!

quote:

"There are a lot of people at Britney's label who are concerned about the new album rumors. They do not want fans to get their hopes up for something that is not happening. One fan site in particular who is advertising a video about a "secret" they feel has gone a little too far. I have read on several sites names of "first singles" and "album names" - the truth is that there is no new album scheduled for anytime this year, nor is there any plans in the next 6 months to release a new single.

From what I have heard, Britney is only in the studio "experimenting." That is the extent of her recording sessions right now. I read on another site that 8 tracks have been completed, that is complete BS. It is however, VERY TRUE that "the people working on material for Britney are NOT talking about it." The ones who are talking - when they submit material to be reviewed/considered, the plan is to trash whatever they send in. They [Jive] want to surprise the fans with the new album and when people come out and start talking it's a huge turn off to both Britney and the people at the label working on the project. So the ones who are talking about something they have no clue what they're talking about are only shooting themselves in the foot in the long run. It is true that some of the people talking WERE contacted about 6 months ago to start working on and submitting new material, when they were contacted they were SPECIFICALLY told not to talk about anything in regards to Britney. And now, Britney will not work with these few big mouthed individuals, even though she has worked with 1 in particular in the past.

The only info I can give you in regards to new material, is that there has been a meeting, and the planned release at this point is for first quarter 2012, however, if the material is submitted prior to the end of spring 2011, it is possible you could see a 4th quarter 2011 album release and the first single sometime before the end of summer 2011. So we are still AT LEAST 1 year away before any talk of a new single should actually be considered legitimate.

Jive would never, ever make an announcement of a new single just a few weeks prior to it's release. That would be a very stupid move by today's industry standards. They want hype around Britney and anything she releases. You would know at least several months ahead of new material being released.

Bottom line: No new single in September, no new album this year or anytime early next year. Britney is taking a little time off, which she both has earned and deserves.

Sorry to disappoint - but waiting will be well worth it, of that I am sure. Please do your best to avoid being part of this huge rumor mill."

Take with a grain of salt - you know how sneaky her team is!

New Britney Spears Demo

Preview for Kanye's "Power" Video

When you’ve had the kind of 2009 that Kanye West endured, only to return the following year to promote your new album, how do you organize your charm offensive to tell your audience you’re not the same person you used to be?

If you’re Mr. West, you start by making appearances at the offices of Facebook and Twitter to perform a cappella raps and pose for photographs. Then you open a Twitter account, post messages complaining about the size of your private jet, and amass more than 200,000 followers in a day.

And then you release a music video teeming with debauchery, degradation and the ominous specter of death.

In a coming video for his single “Power” that was created by the artist Marco Brambilla, Mr. West is seen standing imposingly with a heavy chain around his neck. As Mr. West raps, the camera slowly zooms out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him in a classical structure, surrounded by female attendants who are partly or entirely nude; some kneel before him on all fours, others wear devil horns and still others are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The sword of Damocles hangs precariously over Mr. West’s head, and behind him an unseen executioner is preparing to strike him with a blade. (ArtsBeat was allowed to watch a portion of this video but was not permitted to post it.)

In a telephone interview, Mr. Brambilla explained that he was drawn to the project because, he said, “it’s kind of apocalyptic, in a very personal way.”

Speaking of Mr. West’s track “Power,” which includes refrains like “No one man should have all that power” and “This would be a beautiful death,” Mr. Brambilla said: “It had this very dark, personal conflict within it. Because of his own concept of celebrity and his own notoriety, he’s keenly self-aware of all these things. And it all came out in the music.”

Mr. Brambilla, a video artist and film director (“Demolition Man”), caught Mr. West’s eye with an installation called “Civilization,” which hangs in the elevators of the New York hotel the Standard in the meatpacking district and mixes hundreds of video clips to create a continuously scrolling depiction of heaven and hell.

Mr. Brambilla said that he generally avoids collaborations, but that when Mr. West contacted him through his gallery he could see how they might find common ground. “Because my work’s always been about alienation and seduction and the way contemporary cultures desensitize people,” Mr. Brambilla said.

With a sardonic chuckle, he said of Mr. West, “And he’s experienced it firsthand.”

(A press representative for Mr. West did not reply to a request to comment.)

Mr. Brambilla said the project — which he preferred to describe as a “video work that’s been commissioned by Kanye to accompany the music” rather than a music video — was his and Mr. West’s attempt to answer the question, “How do you visually paint a portrait of power?”

“It’s a moment of transition for him,” Mr. Brambilla said. “It’s like the end of an empire. It’s him becoming mortal again.”

Among the visual influences that Mr. Brambilla said he discussed with Mr. West were Philippe Halsman’s portrait “Dalí Atomicus,” which depicts a suspended midair Dalí, splashing water and leaping cats; and Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

(Not that Mr. West is supposed to be either Adam or God, Mr. Brambilla explained. “It’s not exactly the content, but it is the interpretation of the style,” he said. “He’s like a fallen icon.”)

The video is planned to be posted on Mr. West’s Web site sometime next week, Mr. Brambilla said, and will be provided to MTV and other music channels (though its content will probably make it difficult for some of the channels to show it).

Mr. Brambilla said he hoped viewers of his “Power” video would see the humor in it.

“It’s a very exaggerated, hyper-sensational version of what the song is saying,” he said.

“But at the same time,” he added, “it has this fallibility to it. Because built into the story is that there is an ultimate fallibility, in bringing someone back down to earth at the end of the piece. That kind of contradiction, hopefully, will create the tension within it.”

And if it kicks up more controversy, as Mr. West’s artistic efforts often do, Mr. Brambilla was comfortable with that.

“I like controversy,” Mr. Brambilla said. “The more controversial it gets, the more interesting it is.”
