Cheryl Cole is on course to lead a top three of brand new albums this Sunday with her second solo set Messy Little Raindrops heading towards number one.
The Polydor release has opened up a gap of around 11,000 sales over Mercury’s newly-issued Bon Jovi Greatest Hits album, while Rumer’s debut Atlantic offering Seasons Of My Soul is the third biggest seller so far this week, according to OCC sales.
Another four newly-issued albums could also fill Top 10 slots this coming weekend, including Jamiroquai whose first Mercury album Rock Dust Light Star is ranked fifth. Like Bon Jovi, Jamiroquai performed on The X Factor’s results show last Sunday.
Rod Stewart’s new J/RCA album Fly Me To The Moon – The American Songbook 5 is currently in sixth position, while Neil Diamond’s new Columbia album Dreams is eighth and Ne-Yo’s Def Jam/Mercury album Libra Scale is 10th.
The sheer number of high new entries will result in a big clearout of last Sunday’s Top 10, although Columbia’s Kings Of Leon should retain a place in the top five. Their album Come Around Sundown, which secured a second week at one last Sunday, is presently the week’s fourth top seller.
Outside the Top 10 positions also expect Top 40 entries on Sunday from Conehead’s Peter Andre, Paul McCartney & Wings with Concord/UMTV’s Band On The Run re-issue, 4th & Broadway/Island’s Devlin, Pet Shop Boys with a new Parlophone best of, a Rhino Elaine Paige album, Polydor’s Bryan Adams and Suede with a Ministry of Sound retrospective.
While Cheryl Cole looks very likely to top the new albums chart, she will almost certainly lose her singles crown after just a week. Promise This is in third place at this point in the week with Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna, another X Factor performer last Sunday, expected to climb from two to one with Only Girl (In The World). In between Rihanna and Cole currently is Happiness, a new entry from Alexis Jordan.
Shakespears Sister’s 1992 chart-topper Stay last week returned to the chart at 62 after the song was covered by X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd and could well be back in the Top 10 on Sunday. It is now in eighth place on midweek sales.

Nadine Coyle was hoping to get to Number One with her debut solo single Insatiable, she might want to radically readjust her expectations. Her new single has stalled at a rather disappointing Number 35 in today’s mid-week chart. Of course things could pick up, and 3212 copies is the sales figure for only one day - here’s plenty of time for Nadine fans to get out there and get to song to Number One.
The news that Cheryl Cole’s second solo album Messy Little Raindrops has flown straight to the top of the album mid-week chart probably won’t cheer poor Nadine up any either. Oh dear.

Those Taylor Swift sales predictions just won’t let up. HitsDoubleDaily have now updated their estimates for Tay-Tay’s third album ‘Speak Now’, with the record now guaranteed to sell over 1 million copies. Just exactly how many copies over the 1 milli mark remains to be seen, but right now the sky seems to be the limit for Taylor. Not only that, but Speak Now is also set to break the mark for percentage of sales in one week:
Swift is also set to break the mark for percentage of total sales in a single week, with 17-18%, topping NSYNC’s record of 15.3% back in March 2000, when No Strings Attached sold 2.4 million. That means one out of every five CDs or download sales this week will be the Taylor Swift album.

Rihanna and Katy Perry Are Recording a Duet

Rihanna might not have been able to make it to her BFF Katy Perry's recent nuptials in India, but rest assured—the two will soon be making beautiful music together.
In between her many travels, "Only Girl (in the World)" singer Rihanna called in to Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Monday morning to again express her regrets that she couldn't make it to Perry's big day—and to announce that the pair will be heading into the studio to collaborate soon.
Ri-Ri spilled,
"She actually sent me a song a while ago and she wanted me to be a part of it. And I was like, 'Hell yeah, of course, that's my girl,' and the song is amazing. So we'll be recording that together pretty soon."
If it's half as good as Rihanna's other recent collaboration—her incendiary duet with Eminem on "Love the Way You Lie"—she and Perry might as well stock up on Grammy polish now.

Cheryl Cole has notched up her second UK number one and the fastest selling non-charity single of 2010 with new track 'Promise This'.
The X Factor judge's much-discussed performance on the show last Sunday saw her latest release sell over 157,000 copies this week, just pipping Barbadian singer Rihanna's comeback track 'Only Girl (In The World)' to the top spot.
The lead song from the 'Umbrella' hitmaker's upcoming album Loud achieved first week sales of 126,000, giving Rihanna her 14th UK top ten hit and the second fastest-selling single of the year so far.
Nelly's 'Just A Dream' climbs from 11 to eight this week, where it becomes sandwiched between two big fallers, in the shape of Duck Sauce's 'Barbra Streisand' at seven and The Wanted's sophomore track 'Heart Vacancy' at nine.
Outside the top of the chart, Michael Bublé's 'Hollywood' lands at 11 after being boosted 16 places by an X Factor appearance, while former top five smash 'Miami 2 Ibiza' by Tinchy Stryder and Swedish House Mafia slips just behind at 12.
Elsewhere, a triple bill of new releases - Tim Berg's 'Seek Bromance', Peter Andre's 'Defender' and Devlin's 'Runaway' - make their mark further down the chart, arriving together at 13, 14 and 15 respectively.

Rihanna first hit the EMA stage back in 2006 to perform her hit "S.O.S.," and since then a whole new Rihanna has emerged: the good girl went bad and got a new "R" rating. The one-time girl-next-door (from Barbados) is now a full on envelope-pushing fashion goddess who, in addition to topping charts and winning Grammys, can also now add actress and author to her resume. AND she's a four-time EMA nominatee for Best Pop, Best Song, Best Female, and Best Video! We love you, Rihanna, but give the rest of us gals a chance!
No word yet on which song Rihanna will be performing from her upcoming album Loud, but does it really matter? Rihanna always hits the stage with killer energy, amazing hair, insane ensembles, and confidence like she's the only girl in the world. (See what I did there?)
